SOMETHING GOOD OUT OF YOU

And I'd make something good outta you,

Like write maybe a word or two,

About the way that I could love you,

But now those feelings seem too hollow

to be true.

So instead I'll write about what

I thought were you.

A dead dream or a comet out of the blue.

Someone whom I could be made for,

But who could never be the one for me.

You saw me like a text you leave on read,

A random face you see on a street.

But on my stage of life,

You were the artist in lead.

You won't leave my mind until night,

And then my dreams too,

While I'm sure I never made it into yours,

Why the heck was I still loving you?

People tell me it was a crush.

But heck with it, I knew it was love.

Then distance came through and I grew,

And now I laugh at the silly words I wrote for you.

But one thing that you taught me for life,

Was how to give my unsaid words some life.

Loving you made me love myself and my poetry,

And I'd say thank you if it weren't for you.
