Happy Endings

Pain, Suffering
Jealousy, Hurt
Cruelty, all an endless loop
People believe in happy ending but I for one do not
I believe in the endless wars that last for years tearing apart allies
I believe in the solider who wakes up screaming and in sweats thinking of the bodies surrounding them
I believe in the kids in their bedroom painting their arms red with lines trying to forget the pain
I believe in the civilians cast out of their homes and onto the streets scrambling for food and heat
I believe in the addicts who can't seem to stop even after the pain they have caused
I believe happy endings are fake and never truly real
They are just a story told in books and movies and songs
For reality is harsher than that
Reality is painful
Reality crushes dreams and hopes and tears people apart
Reality causes heartaches and despite
Reality is cruel yet we somehow survive constantly chasing that happy ending
But I don't believe in happy endings
Only the endless of cycle of pain we cause each other
Happy ending have no place in this world
