There was something different about the Creeper lately. You had come to notice just how touchy he had been in the past couple weeks. At first, it was just little things. He would nudge your shoulder, play with your hair, bump his forehead against yours more often than he used to. Now it seemed that whenever he was around, he wouldn't not be touching you in some way. It did get a little annoying at times, but you mostly found it endearing. You figured it was just the way he showed how comfortable he was around you.

Recently, his favourite thing was laying, usually on his stomach, with his head on your lap. He'd purr quietly while you stroked his back and his wings, watching whatever happened to be on television. You loved these quiet moments together and loved how soft the Creeper had become, even if you didn't fully understand it.

It was during one of these couch snuggle sessions when you finally said something. You tried to get up, telling him that you wanted to get a drink from the kitchen, but the Creeper stubbornly refused to move from his position atop you.

"I'm coming right back," you tried to assure him, but he wasn't listening.

The Creeper only cuddled closer and you finally gave up with a laugh. He growled contently, pleased that he got his way. You resumed stroking his wings, shaking your head in amusement.

"You'd think we were married or something with how you're acting," you joked.

The Creeper let out an inquisitive purr, looking up at you from his position on your lap. A genuinely confused expression was on his face and you had to hold back a giggle at how positively adorable he looked.

"Do you not know what marriage is?" You asked.

The Creeper shook his head, shifting onto his back to better look at you.

"Well... When two people really love each other, they can get married," you explained. "It's a ceremony where they commit themselves to each other. They exchange rings and vow to love each other until death."

The Creeper tilted his head to the side, still looking just as confused as before.

"I don't know if there's anymore of your kind, but do you not know of anything like that?" You asked.

The Creeper shook his head again. It seemed the concept of a lifelong mate wasn't one he was familiar with. It seemed he didn't have anymore questions as he turned his attention back to the television, quietly pensive. You figured that was the end of that conversation and continued the evening as normal.

It was a few days later before the Creeper showed up at your house again. You found that odd, considering how he had been glued to your side for the past couple of weeks. When you found him waiting for you in your bedroom one night, it was safe to say you were sufficiently surprised.

"Oh, hey, Creeps. Where have you been, huh?" You asked.

The Creeper was loitering near your bedroom window, which was still open from his arrival. You walked over and closed it. Suddenly, the Creeper grabbed your arm. You looked up at him, seeing an intense clarity in his eyes.

A minute passed and when nothing happened, you asked, "You okay?"

The Creeper seemed to stare at you for a moment before leading you over to the bedside. He took your hands in his, an uncharacteristically gentle gesture, and sat down with you on the edge of the bed. You were more than a little baffled.

"What's... What's going on?" You asked with a little laugh.

He held your hands for a beat longer before reaching inside the pocket of his coat. Your eyes widened as the Creeper pulled out a ring, just a simple gold band, offering it to you in an open palm. You looked up at him, a strange sort of tightness in your throat.

"You...want to marry me?" You clarified, voice barely above a whisper.

The Creeper flashed you that charming fanged smile you loved so much and you couldn't help but let out a giddy little laugh. You held out your left hand, pointing to your ring finger.

"Um... Y-You put it on this finger," you explained, feeling almost lightheaded with excitement.

With surprising delicacy, the Creeper carefully pushed the ring onto your finger. It didn't fit quite right, but to you, it was perfect. You admired it for a moment, another breathless laugh escaping you before you launched forward and hugged the Creeper as tightly as you could. You felt his arms encircle you in return, his clawed fingers threading through your hair.

"I love you," you whispered.

The Creeper pulled back from the hug and looked at you for only a moment before your lips connected with his in a fierce kiss. You grabbed the lapels of his coat, pulling him that much closer. When you finally parted, you felt flushed and breathless and beyond ecstatic. You knew you were smiling like a doofus, but you couldn't find it in you to care.

"I'll take that as your 'I love you, too'," you said with a giggle. The Creeper responded with a playful growl, his own unique laugh.

Though there was nothing official about this matrimony in the slightest, you couldn't believe that the Creeper had taken your explanation of marriage to heart. You were absolutely overjoyed that he cared about you enough that he would consider proposing, even though he didn't entirely understand it. It was beyond sweet and you had to admit, referring to the Creeper as your husband did have quite a nice ring to it.
