"Man, I'm beat." Running around with Jack all evening was tiring stuff, but at least now, with our candy buckets full, we can sit down on the couch and watch movies until it's time for him to go. Jack giggles and sits down beside me, still packed full of energy as I wield the remote to pick out a horror movie. His eyes light up as I come across Scream, and so I select it to start watching. "Lights off?" I ask.
"Is there any other way to watch a scary movie?" He retorts, his happy smile ever present. I pick myself up to turn it off, leaving only the string of purple lights wrapped around the living room windows and, of course, the TV to illuminate the room. Once I take my seat again, Whiskers joins on my lap. I scratch his head to make him purr. Between the ears is his favorite spot. As the movie begins, Jack opens his sack of candy and thrusts a hand inside to pull out a fun-size container of Nerds. He pours the sugary lumps straight into his mouth from the box until it's empty before reaching in for another treat. This time, it's a Milky Way.
"How can you still eat? We ate a ton back at the cemetery," I questioned, astonished at how he could mow down one sweet after another.
"There's always room for candy!" His faintly glowing eyes shifted towards my purple bucket that sat on the coffee table, untouched, since we came into the house. A mischievous smirk stretched across the spirit's face as he reached over to snatch a lollipop off the top before promptly unwrapping it. My mouth hung open at the betrayal as he placed it in his mouth with an impish smile. Lightly, I slap his upper arm with the back of my hand, making that smirk grow wider.
"Hey, eat your own candy!" I scolded him, only for the boy to snicker at me. I pout as he faces me.
"I'm sorry, Sweetie." His apology was dripping in sarcasm, causing my lips to tilt further down as he took the white stick between his fingers and pulled the candy out from his mouth. The look on his face tells me he's up to no good, so I stay on my guard. "Did you want a taste?" As he brought the lollipop closer to my lips, I drew my head back with widened eyes, avoiding it like the plague. Seriously, what's up with him and sharing lollipops?
"No way," I decline, expressing my disgust. Amused, Jack chuckles.
"It's just a wittle lollipop. It won't bite." As if he knew what was coming, Whiskers leaped off my lap before Jack could tackle me down. I laid flat, in shock, as he towered over me, giggling as he sat on my legs and held the sweet up to my mouth again. I sealy lips tightly to keep him out, but he continues to press. "Come on, Y/N. You know you want it. It's really tasty!"
