Everyone believed that Mello hated Near, however that hatred is mistaken throughout the orphanage and even within the adults. For you see, Mello didn't hate Near, he hated his lack of expression towards events, and he hated how he would always come first.

This resulted in the blonde boy making countless attempts to try and see the white haired genius show an expression on the blank slate of a face he had. So when he realised that the little sheep had developed a disgustingly cute crush on their friend, you can bet he was quick to drag her into his ordeals to see if it made a difference.

"Come on Y/A,"
Mello pleaded the h/c haired girl as she sat down sketching the scene of the meadow which was outside of her window, taking heed to shading every blade of grass to give it the windswept effect she was admiring as her eyes darted from the paper, to her reference. Mello's voice entered her ear from one end and to the other as he bobbed his head from one side of her head to the other, whining as he tried to draw her attention away from her sketching.
"I know you want to try it"

Y/a sighed as she looked at her drawing, not making eye contact with Mello in the slightest as she ran the pencil over the paper.
"Sorry Mell bells, but I refuse to prank Near just because you want to see a different facial expression on him"

"I'll convince Roger to let you use the spare room as an art studio"

She paused, the movements of her wrist coming to a halt as she considered the offer which Mello had just laid out for her. Y/a really did enjoy the idea of having a seperate room for herself to work in, without getting into trouble if she ever let paint splatter on the floor or dry on the walls.

"What shall we try first"

Mello made a mental note on how to get you to help him with any of his shenanigans in the future, if Matt wasn't available to help him of course. At the current moment in time, Matt was locked in his room, playing the brand new game which he convinced Roger to buy him whilst the two were out on grocery errends the day before. So when the red haired wasn't available, Mello turned to you, and you obliged every time he was doing something fairly reasonable. However now? Now you were practically dragged into the plan he had which involved trying to prank Near, all so that you could have your own art studio in the end.

You were slightly confused, Near always seemed to show subtle expressions everytime the two of you were together. He had a cute sort of smile when the both of you would find yourselves in his room completing puzzles, and he would always compliment you whenever he saw one of your paintings. You couldn't forget the image of the pink blush he had on his face when you handed him an A3 drawing of the white haired boy himself, a detailed and coloured drawing of your good friend sitting down with one of his robots in front of him. He hung it up on the wall in his room, with help from you, and gave you a big hug afterwards.

1 felt a little bad now for giving in to join Mello on pranking Near.

However, now Mello would not let you back out of his plan at all, and to be honest you would rather pick life than pick an angry Mello. With a sigh you walked down the hallway with a bucket of water than the blonde boy had asked you to prepare, before placing it on the floor in front of him as he leaned against the wall eating chocolate. You raised your eyebrow at him before glancing down to the bucket,
"so what are ae doing again?"

"We're gonna put the bucket on top of the door of his room so that when he goes in he'll get drenched!"
Mello grinned, chocolate visibly staining the corners of his mouth as he shoved the last few pieces into his mouth and crouched down gesturing to his back.
"You get on, I'll boost you so that you can put the bucket up"
