"Oh come on Roger, can't we please go to the park?"
You begged the old man, tugging on the sleeve of his jacket as you whined and looked up at him with the widest puppy eyes you could have ever forced yourself to make to him.
However, Roger just sighed wearily and shook his head, pulling his arm out of your hold as he continued to sign the documents that were piled up on the desk in front of him."Y/a, there's no possible way that I could take every child here to the park, there's simply not enough adult supervision for you all, especially the toddlers"You pouted at his words and folded your arms with a huff, cheeks puffing up with annoyance as you paced the office that you were both in, trying to think of a way to convince him to take you and the other children out and about. It didn't take long before your idea arrived, quite physically, as the door to the office opened and in walked two adults. Watari and L had returned from their recent case, as they usually did when there were no cases that perked L's interest.
"I heard you needed adult supervision, are two more adults sufficient?"
L asked, giving Roger a cheeky smile as he nibbled on the edge of his thumb, and winking at the younger girl, who's eyes lit up with excitement as she ran over to the older male and hugged him tightly.----- 🌸 -----
Watari managed to get two minivans that were for the orphanage, providing enough seats to carry every single child who were all over the moon to be heading out of the grounds of the building. You proposed the idea with a few of the other kids as your impulses started to make your body itch for a little more excitement and exposure to the outside world. It was as though being trapped in the walls of the orphanage started to suffocate you and you just had to find a way to get out of them.
Watari was driving the mini bus you were sat in, L in the seat next to him, and around 18 other kids were in the vehicle too. Seating arrangements were made in age order, and so you were sharing a journey with Matt, Mello and Near. Sitting next to Matt provided to be fun, as he bought some of his handheld consoles with him and let you play a couple of games, you only managed to play one before motion sickness hit like a freight train, and you passed on the offer of playing more games. Luckily Mello was paranoid about you throwing up, so he handed you a square piece of his chocolate to help lessen the nausea, which definitely helped and you made a mental note to never try reading or looking at anything when travelling.
You were sat at the back of the minibus, which had 4 seats which was perfect since it meant that you could sit with Matt, Mello and Near. You glanced over to the white haired boy, who was looking out of the window, chin resting on his knee which he managed to pull under his chin, despite the slight restraint from the seatbelt. Your focus was quickly shifted from him when Mello got excited at the sight of a town, pointing to the buildings and the animals he could see whilst you all passed by the fields on the way to the closest park.
Eventually, the mini bus came to a stop and everyone scrambled to get off, each kid shrieking at the sight of climbing frames and swings. The other kids who were there with their parents became very alarmed at the sight of so many children spilling out of the vehicles and running to the equipmen. Other parents gave weird and judgemental stares to a few of the kids and adults, mostly L who had just got out the vehicle, hands in his pockets and posture slouched. Noticing the many stares and glares of mothers and fathers, he lifted one hand and waved, only for them to quickly turn away.
You grabbed his hand, smiling excitedly as you pulled him to one of the free swings, asking if he could push you. Mello was sat on the other, grinning widely as he challenged who could swing the highest, and with you and L hating to lose or back down from a challenge, he sat you down on the swing and pushed you immediately. Mello scowled at the head start you got and yelled at Matt to switch off his console and push him higher. The 10 year old red head looked up, then back down to his console and used a single hand to push Mello, which seemed to be happy with it.
