Fact - In the 4th century a famous mathematician, teacher and pagan named Hypatia roamed Alexandria telling everyone about her beliefs. She was very passionate and not afraid to speak her mind in a landscape of religious conflict and separatism. Many people were afraid of her intelligence and believed she must be silenced for the good of the state. A magistrate named Peter the Lector gathered religious followers and hunted her down to which they ripped her from her carriage, dragged her by her hair to a nearby church and used the oyster shells inside to all skin her alive and burn her body at the altar. They were all praised for this and one became classed as a "saint" for such a "good" deed.
