Back To Bully Battling

 *still Serena's pov*

After that fight all I wanted to do was sleep. The next day I decided to go to school and as arranged, Luna came and woke me up. As I got dressed I'd look at Darien now and then, making sure he was still asleep. Quietly grabbing my things, I was about to walk out but stopped to write Darien a note to let him know where I was going. Once that was done I left.

*at school*

For once I actually got to school early. I went to the music room, deciding to work on some songs I wanted to put music to. I was humming along to the sound of the guitar as my fingers strummed the strings. "Hmmm, la la dee dee da." My voice filled the room. After a while it was time to head to class. 

*at lunch* note: sorry for all the time skips

"Hey!" I called out as I spotted the girls. They looked surprised to see me but happy too. "Serena!" they responded. "You're back. That's amazing." Lita said, pulling me into a side hug. "Thanks." I answered, sitting down. As we ate our food, chatting the usual popular snobs came up to us. 

"Oh look! It's meatball brain!" said one.

"Ugh, what is she wearing? A trash bag?" said another.

And so it went on, I received insult after insult. Finally I spoke up, "That's it! I've subjected myself to this for too long. This has to stop!" "Aww. Is Odango actually talking back?" the first said, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. Ami  backed me up. "Yeah, she is. Obviously she's had it with you and your stupid damn trash talk. So why don't you and your lackeys take your make-up caked faces elsewhere? We're trying to eat you see..." The snobs look at Ami, horrified expressions on their faces.

*meanwhile at the apartment, Darien's pov* 

I woke up and Serena was gone. "Serena?" I called out. No answer. Panic rose in my throat as I thought of the worst case scenarios. In the kitchen my eyes landed on a piece of paper with my name on it. Picking it up, I began to read. 

Dear Dare,

I'm going to school today. I can't hide from my problems forever. If I did that I'd be a coward so today's the day I fight against those who are trying to drag me down. I know you Darien. Don't frown as you read this my sweet prince. If this doesn't go well I'll be back. Another thing. I know your tafe starts in a few days so don't worry too much okay? Love you. Have a good day! XOXO

Letting out a breath I wasn't aware I was holding, I sighed in relief. She's safe. I decided to pick her up later so until then I'd go run some errands.

*back to Serena's pov* 

As the wicked witches walked off I thank the girls and left. I need to be by myself for awhile. Going to the office, I signed out and headed for the park. I stopped at Darien's and grabbed my instrument. At the park I started playing a song I had written.

As I played a small crowd formed. My voice flowed with emotion and as I neared the end people clapped along to my tapping foot. After about an hour of playing I went back to school just as it let out. Walking in to the school yard, I saw Darien's car parked on the street. I called to him, "Darien!" Turning around, he caught sight of me. "Serena!" he called to me. I ran in to his outstretched arms, throwing myself against him. "How was school?" Darien asked casually.  Sighing, I replied, "It was awful. The girls got dragged in to everything." I rubbed my face, feeling totally spaced out. Getting in the car, Darien looked at with sympathy in his eyes.

"You know they don't care about anything those idiots say right? They just want to help." he told me. I nodded. "I know but it's my fight, my problem. Not theirs." My hands rested in my lap, my eyes trained on them. Darien laid a hand on my knee to calm me down. "Be that as it may," he replied, "they care about you or else they'd just ignore what happened. They still want to help a friend." I took in what he said, seriously thinking about it. Maybe I'm not alone in this after all.
