Just an FYI, but this chapter is completely like a vision/dream Noah has when he blacks out, and is in no way happening in real life. This is just another one of his gifts.

I wake up and I am in a meadow. Mine and mom's meadow. The one where she would always take me when I was feeling down, or we just wanted to play and have fun with each other. She would bring sandwiches for us to eat for lunch so we could stay as long as we could, walking in for dinner at the very last second, our cheeks flushed with all of the laughing and running around we did in the meadow.

Whenever we would come out there was never a moment of silence, all you could hear was boyish giggles, happy squeals, and womanly laughter.

Now, it's silent.

I stand up as I look around, confused on how I got here, all I remember is blacking out after Crazy Hazel went, crazy! This doesn't even seem real, why am I here. This the first time something like this has ever happened to me.

"Son." The word is just a whisper in the breeze, but with my excellent hearing, I can hear the faint whisper as it is taken away by the breeze. I turn around slowly, taking in the familiar surroundings as I look for the person to match the voice.  The voice is oddly familiar as I listen to is, but I can quite put the name to the voice.

I turn around completely and standing in front of me is my mother. She smiles as she opens her arms up. I feel my legs start moving before I can think. I run into her open arms, but as soon as I make contact with her, she vanishes into thin air.

Now I look around frantically as I look for my mother. I haven't seen her in so long, alive that is, and I just want to touch her one more time.

"Son." The whisper comes again. I look around and find mother again, her arms are open as she waits for me to come and hug her. I run to her again, but as soon as I touch her she vanishes.

I start crying as I look for my mother. I know she is somewhere, and I just need to touch her, I just need to hug her one more time.

"Son." I turn around and she i there again. Instead of running to her, I walk slowly, afraid she will disappear again.

"Why can't I touch you?" I whisper as tears continue to fall down my face in steady stream. Mother stands there, but her arms drop to her side and the soft smile on her faces turns to a frown as she watches me cry.

"Son." Se whisper again, this time she takes a step towards me. "Why didn't you come home? Why didn't you come for me? You could have stopped this? You could have saved me?!" My mother screams as she advances on me. I cry and shake my head as I back away from her. Begging to her that I tried, I wanted to come home and I am so sorry I couldn't save her.

Mother seems to calm down a little as she watches me beg. Another smile makes it way onto her face, but this one is sad, guarded almost.

"I waited so long for you to return to us. I knew you were in pain, but I hoped you would come home. I wished for so long to hold you, to hug you. But you never came. You never came home." Mother is whisper again. I know her words hold truth, but I shake my head in denial.

"I would have came home, if you asked me to. I would have done anything for you." I whisper back. This place used to be so loud, but now in the quiet I only feel it is right to whisper. Mother shakes her head as she looks to the ground.

I wait to see what she is going to say next, what other hateful words filled with sadness and pain I will have to endure next. But when she looks up, the tears in her eyes are gone and her face is a blank slate. I am confused by the change in mood, but wait for her to speak.

"You couldn't save me, but you can save them." She says finally, her tone is blank, as if she has no feeling at all.

"Save who?" I whisper, scared of causing her to scream at me again. This is the first time I have ever heard mother scream. Never has she raised her voice about a normal tone, never.

"All of them. The wolves. They need you, The Gifted ones. You need to find them, find the others. They will be able to help you. Save them, son, save them all." Mother slowly disappears after she speaks her last word. I rush to where she was, trying to touch her, but she is gone before I can reach her.

I cry as I think over her words, the gifted. That is what Easton called me. I am one of the gifted, and to save the wolves, I need to find others like me. This must be a premonition of some kind, one that gives me the warning I need to get into action.

I close my eyes as I wish to be anywhere but here. The place I use to find peace in, has just turned into another nightmare.
