We woke up to the sound of my stupid alarm. I was about to turn it off. "Don't turn it off, we both need to go to school."

"No you need another day to recover."

"I'm perfectly fine, beautiful." I groaned, "why?"

"We can't keep skipping school."

"You were in a car accident, for gods sake Hunter!" I said hitting his chest.

"I was in a car accident and now you're hitting me. That's good for me." He said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes.

"Now get up, so we can get to school on time."

I stood up, went to the bathroom, and got dressed. I walked out to find Hunter making breakfast.

"Handsome and he can cook. I'm a lucky girl." I laughed.

Hunter turned around and smirked. "And I get the beautiful girl, who looks drop dead gorgeous in a baggy t-shirt, skinny jeans, and black high tops. I mean damn girl." I blushed and looked at the floor.

We walked to school hand in hand. All of my classes went by way too slowly. Then finally it was lunch, but sadly I didn't have lunch with Hunter. Which meant I had to sit by myself. I had my head down, when someone walked up and sat down. I didn't look up, but when I tried to reach for my food, it wasn't there. I looked up to see my ex boyfriend's friends sitting across from me. "Hey Caroline." Sam said. I nodded.

"Chris was right. She still doesn't talk." I rolled my eyes. Why were these guys talking to me? Sam stood up and grabbed my backpack. I glared at him. "Oooo you're so scary."

"Give it back." I said.

"It speaks!" Sam laughed. Caleb grabbed my bag from Sam and ran towards the door. I followed after him. As soon as I got past the door I regretted my decision. In front of me stood my ex Chris, his friends Sam and Caleb, and a quarter of the baseball team. I swallowed hard and tried to take a step back. "Where do you think you're going?" Chris asked. I wanted to pull my phone out to text Hunter but I wouldn't be able to, I wasn't as fast as any of these guys.

Sam and Chris took a step towards me.

I tried to take another step back but Chris grabbed my arm. "Where's that Hunter kid now? Doesn't look like he's coming to protect you this time." I knew I could fight Chris but not all 12 of these guys. I looked around for anyone who could help me but no one was there.

           --10 minutes later--

I was on the ground, bloody and bruised. The bell rang and people started to gather around the group of baseball players.

Hunter's POV

There was a group of people standing outside the cafeteria. I was just going to walk past when I heard someone say, "isn't that Hunter's girl?"

I immediately turned around and walked towards the crowd. Pushing my way through the mob of baseball players, I saw Caroline's ex standing over her. Seeing her on the ground, made something inside me snap. My brain switched off and I grabbed her ex and threw him to the ground. I started beating the crap out of him. Someone tried to pull me off of him. I was about to punch the person when I heard them say, "Hunter! Stop! It's not worth it." I turned around and saw Caroline standing behind me.

Caroline's POV

I'd never seen Hunter so angry. "Come on Hunter." I said my voice shaking a little bit. I pulled on his arm. He followed me away from Chris.

"What the hell Caroline?!? Why wouldn't you let me beat him up?!?" Hunter yelled. I let go of Hunter's arm and pulled my hand back.

"Answer me!" Hunter yelled grabbing my shoulders. I started to cry. "Hunter you're hurting me. Let go."

The angry look in Hunter's eyes faded away. He let go of my shoulders and slumped against the wall. I turned away from him. "Hunter..." I rubbed my eyes.

"I'm sorry Caroline. He was hurting you and... and-"

"Hunter! Shut up!" I shouted. "I'm trying to think." I heard him move behind me but I didn't turn around. Hunter grabbed my shoulders and turned me around to face him. He had tears running down his face. I didn't like seeing him like this, "Hunter I'm sorry I-" He pressed his lips against mine.
