CHAPTER 5: NIGHTCAP

Lesedi

It was about half an hour before closing time and I couldn't wait to get off.

Normally, I would leave early on a Sunday because it was deal night at home.

Since, The Black Sheep was closed on Mondays, we would play cards, sometimes monopoly deal, sometimes 304, get baked, eat a huge amount of takeout till God-knows what time and just crash.

But since Si was out, I needed to be here until closing time to firefight any possible chaos.

Given that I was getting late and because Noah was having a date he couldn't miss tonight, we decided to call it off this week. Now, Mason, who was just getting back together with Troy, could use the alone time.

Cancelling deal night didn't dampen my mood because it still meant I got to stay up late, maybe catch up on some reading and sleep till whatever time I wanted to.

Just as I was drowning in my thoughts I was interrupted by, "Two Hot Chocolates to-go please?".

I looked up to find none other than Aiden Jacobs-the guy who didn't ask for my number last night.

He was wearing a pair of olive slim fit chinos and a grey crew neck sweater with rolled up sleeves.

Something inside me fluttered; a feeling I had not felt in a while.

He sat on the bar stool opposite me and smiled.

I smiled back coyly and answered, "Coming right up!".

"Had dinner yet?", he asked as I was entering the order into the system.

"Not yet, you?", was my reply.

"Not yet", he replied back.

"You do know that this is an establishment that serves food, right?", I mentioned playfully.

"Yes, I am aware. But I have dinner plans tonight-", he replied grinning.

"Oh...", I said sounding a bit disappointed.

'Dinner plans this late?...It's probably a date- a late night date', I supposed; my thoughts clearly not helping my mood.

"-with you", he added coolly.

I looked up, a bit taken aback.

"You do?", was all that my mind could construct.

"I do.", he replied.

My pocket buzzed, awakening me from the stupor I was clearly in.

"Hold on to that thought", I said and headed over to the kitchen counter to grab his drinks.

"So, what's open this late?", I asked as he pushed one hot chocolate towards me and took a sip off his.

I smiled, feeling a sense of warmth come over me.

"There's a place. You'll like it, don't worry", was his vague reply.

Once everyone had left, I grabbed my bag and hot chocolate and locked up.

"Let's take my car. You can just pick yours up after", Aiden suggested.

I hesitated for a moment.

"You're not some serial killer, are you? No body bags in the boot?", I asked surprised at the extent, reruns of Dexter had influenced me.

"Wanna check?", he asked grinning.

"Reverse psychology huh?", I replied suspiciously.

"Yes, if you don't mind", I answered unamused.
