CHAPTER 7: DEAL NIGHT

Lesedi

After stuffing ourselves with brunch at a local diner, Aiden dropped me off at The Black Sheep so that I could pick up my car.

I reached home at around three o'clock, to an overly-zealous Pablo, an anxious Mason and a slightly more than infuriated Noah.

"I'm home", I called to whoever could hear me.

"Lessie... You're back!", Mason cried out while rushing to squeeze me into a hug.

"Thank Fuck... I swear Noah was going to chop my darn head off if you got any later.", he whispered.

Releasing me, he turned to Noah and continued hysterically, raising his hands for dramatic effect, "See, I told you he wasn't bad news... Which kidnapper in their right mind would let her take pictures of his license plate number and his driver's license? I mean, unless he's really bad at his job - ".

"He took it", I interjected nonchalantly.

"He took what? ", Mason asked almost immediately, fearing for the worst.

"He took the pictures. Not me.", I corrected.

Mason sighed in relief.

"You should have known better, Lesedi", Noah sounded displeased.

"He's different, Noah.", I defended, feeling a pit in my stomach.

"They're all different at first, until they're not", he argued.

I slumped on the couch.

"So, what are my options? Not look at a man for the rest of my life because of one bad decision I made almost a half a decade ago?", I asked, feeling defeated.

"If that's what it takes.", Noah replied coolly.

"Now hold on, let's not go overboard.", Mason cut in.

There was silence, awkward silence.

"Let's just invite him over for deal night. Get to know him better, you know?", Mason said after a moment of thought.

"Our deal night?", Noah exclaimed.

"That's a great idea Mason! I mean, Mason gets to bring Troy, so why can't I bring someone?", I reasoned.

"Fine, do whatever you want.", Noah replied calmly, took his keys from the coffee table and left.

As I heard him speed off the drive way, Mason sunk next to me on the couch.

"He's just not used to not getting what he wants. He'll come around, Lessie. Don't worry.", he said in the hopes of comforting me.

I just sighed, not wanting to feel anything at the moment that could ruin the amazing night and well, day I had with Aiden.

I mean I knew where Noah was coming from but I just couldn't be completely on board with him, this time.

Not with Aiden; I was sure he was different.

But...what if I was wrong?

I dragged myself upstairs collapsed on my bed.

My phone buzzed.

It was text from Aiden.

Aiden: "Got home safe, Lessie?"

I smiled at my phone realizing how sneakily he got my number last night.
