It was finally the day they were all looking forward to, and it was more like a little forum than a meeting. There were different companies from different divisions looking for deals with us. The meetings were never ending, and from what I knew, they wanted to drop a particular partner for another. The one the wanted to drop's CEO looked heavily familiar, and it was Enzo who gave me a clue that it was his dad. I was so confused then. Why would he be working with this one then? Either way we were on for a long time, because the only candidate worth contemplating was not willing to meet up financially. Or at least they didn't know what they were doing wrong.

The representative was an old all grey sweet man, quite short with a moustache ,the cutest belly and he smiled throughout.

He was either supposed to raise his offer, or we lower our expectations. Seeing as the latter wasn't happening, and no one wanted to tell him, I felt the urge to. The board members were here, and I was a bit scared to talk but this was longer than usual. They were all old, and I had a feeling they were affiliated with Mateo.

I decided to talk anyways. "I'm sorry Mr Deluca, I think the best options are these." I started with a smile. Dropping the news on him, seemed to surprise him but I didn't stop. At first he had a stern looking face, then he broke into a smile. That didn't comfort me though, because at the moment the room was dead silent and I hadn't realized how much I might have messed up just from talking as a secretary.

The board were talking and exchanging looks, and I sank in my chair, desperately avoiding Liam's gaze.

A moment later, he smiled at me and to everyone's shock, he raised it, and doubled what Enzo's dad already had on the table. I knew he had the capabilities but he was just beating around the bush. As he went out, he tapped my shoulders.

"I was just waiting for someone to tell me what I already knew." He said and when I looked at him he chuckled. " Everyone is cautious because of my position, but I just needed a push so there you go." He admitted before leaving with the rest of the board.
I quickly picked up my files, and dashed out. It wasn't long before he asked me to bring my files to him.

"What you did out there was dense." He said as soon as I dropped them on the table.

"Huh?" I asked confused.

"You spoke as a secretary nothing more, one wrong word and it would have been a mess." He used that tone he had once spoken to me with in Honolulu, and I hated it. He sounded like he was talking to a kid.

"Why didn't you stop me then?" I asked looking up to meet his stare. Last night's event came back, and needless to say I was scared. I looked back down. "Sorry." I said, then turned around to leave.

"I didn't say you could leave." I heard him say and I stopped in tracks. I was sick and tired of this, and my heart felt so heavy. Do it. I thought to myself. I took a deep breath and turned back around.

"You didn't, I quit." I said looking at him.

"What?"

"I quit. I'll drop my letter later today." I said and  turned back out. I felt a heavy weight lift up from my shoulders as I walked out. I took my handbag, careful of my sore hands and stepped out. Once in my car, I rested my head on the wheel and finally breathed. I was free to do whatever I wanted with my day. It was only midday, so I had time. I drove back home, and received a call from Carla. She will be back in three days. Good enough, I thought. I decided to just cool today. Cleaning became tedious because of my hands, and I wanted more time to attend a yoga class.

On my way back from the class, I stopped at a café and ordered something to drink. My phone rang, and it was an unknown number.

"Hey girlfriend." She said cockily
