Set in Black ops 1

Reader's pov:

The cold air brushed against my skin as I stood outside against a lamp post. I couldn't help but stare up at the beauty of the  twilight sky. During  wintertime in Russia you were considered lucky if you could get more than a few hours of sunlight but darkness hadn't covered the sky completely so I decided to take advantage of it. After standing outside for a few minutes I went back inside to find my husband, Lev eating a bowl of beef stew and looking over paperwork. I walked over to him and asked " how is it?" He looked at me and smiled " perfect my dear." I was happy to hear that as this was going to be his only night home for a long time and I wanted everything to be perfect. He put his papers away and reached up to lower me down onto his lap and purred " love, I'm afraid I have...bad news." I gave him a nervous look and asked " what is it?" With a lot of hesitation he grabbed my face gently and whispered " I'm afraid I'll have to leave tonight again." I felt my face grow warm and tears form in to corner of my eyes, this couldn't be happening. I had not seen my husband in nearly eight months and he was forced to leave me again. He saw the saddened look on my face and took me deeper into his arms and said softly " this will all be over soon my love. I promise" I wanted to believe him but at this point I was losing faith. This had been our relationship for many years, it was upsetting to know that we would never live a normal life due to the lifestyle he lived. Wiping the tears from my eyes I press my forehead against his and cried " Lev, can't you see this is hurting me? I know you say that what you do is for the greater good of our nation but it's costing us our marriage." This was one of the first times in our marriage that I had completely broke down and cried. It was a little embarrassing but I could take no longer. I could tell he didn't know what to say only repeating what he said earlier " dear, everything I do I do for our future and I guarantee that it will be over soon. So do not cry (y/n), please do not cry." I got up from his lap and whispered " I'll go pack your bags" he only responded with a nod and went back to viewing the paperwork. As I made my way up the stares to the bedroom we shared I walked over to the closet and picked up his uniform. My hands traced over the Russian symbol, as much as I loved our nation and what it represented, it hurt to know that in order to defend it so many sacrifices had to be made including my husband.
