At night, when you can't sleep, do you ever just happen to glance out the window and see, just... the moon?  A full moon, or maybe even not, just a moon.  And it's so bright it's glowing.  It's up in the sky, in all its beauty, and all you can do is stare and gawk?  Because all it ever does is take your breath away, and you want to be there.  You want to be out there, living, feeling the moonlight on your skin and the wind in your hair, the goosebumps rising on your skin.  You want to feel the cold from the night and the warmth of just being... free.  Completely and utterly free.

And you know as soon as you can step out and walk in the moonlight...

You'd finally understand what your heart was aching for every time you thought of the word "freedom".

The moon's high in the sky and there's barely a cloud covering it.  I can see a single star, and I suddenly feel like crying.  It's just so... beautiful outside.  The world around me is dark and lonely, and I've never wanted to be out there more than I do now.

Like, when I looked outside, my chest literally ached and my breath was just stolen from me.  I gasped, aloud, at just... the complicated simplicity of the world.

And that's what I think at two in the morning when I can't bring myself to sleep because the world isn't always like this, and a beautiful night happens every night, yet they're never the same.  And I just can't help but savour it over and over.

There's a word for this, isn't there?  An aching for freedom?  I should search it up.  I have onism in my mind, but I don't think that's right.  I'll look it up in the morning.

Well, I guess it is morning.  Later in the morning.

I'll publish this now, before I ramble more than I already have.

But... the next time you can't find yourself able to sleep.  Look outside.  Or maybe just in the middle of the day.  Look outside.  Around you.

There's beauty in every single thing.  Every rock made, brick built, star shining, teardrop shed.

You just have to look for it.
