Story 1

Chapter 5

Everyone was very happy, at home. I liked it. I had already become a part of the Oberoi family. They were my family now. Never thought things would change so fast. But, they did and it was all beautiful.

More beautiful was his sudden interest in looking up to see my reactions and the gleam in his eyes when he was listening to what I said. This man would never take things ahead. The childish predicament of leaving subtle hints that I had started, I decided to continue. I was humming to myself and preparing the bed. As I turned back to walk to the cupboard I collided with him. He was so engrossed in his phone. I looked at him and then at his fallen phone. Picking it up quickly I handed it him, "I am sorry!" I hoped he wouldn't be mad at me for it.

"It's okay. That was my mistake. You like that word. ? Sorry?"

I giggled, "nah!"

He chuckled in response. I realised my hand was still on his forearm. I pulled back, cautiously staring into his eyes. Was I imagining? Or did he actually look down...at my lips? Imagining I assumed. Smiling I went to change. As I dressed up in loose pajamas and a sleeveles t-shirt, I prepared myself to talk to him.

He was sitting leaning on the backrest of the bed. I sat on my side of the bed clearing my throat. He looked up at me. Did I really over think or was his gaze at me different now? I was baffled. There was much more in his look than I saw. His look was like the one that said- come closer and I would kiss you endless. Maybe it was just my imagination. Oh mind growing wild. Were my hormones alright? Was all this a side effect of sharing the bed, room, car and everything with a handsome man? Whatever. Focus on subject. Yes.

"Shivaay, I wanted to ask about the dress code. I mean sounds weird but, I can't wear saree to work and as much as I have learnt, clearly the family won't want me to dress up in pencil skirt to office." he shifted  and sat up straight pulling the duvet closer to his abs. I continued, "so..

" Anika, yes for the latter, and our company has always had rules. " he said.

"But. Wearing pencil skirts and tight fitting shirts is okay then why not jeans and kurti. I mean if concern is to maintain a healthy decent professional environment then the latter should be allowed if former is." He looked rather bewildered." Do I sound weird?" I asked.

"No." He smiled.

"Alright you wear that, I will make sure that's added to the list. But keep it formal not --umm, loud."

"Fine."  Did he mean my dressing was loud? No. It was sassy and colorful. Pulling the duvet, I leaned back, sinking on to the mattress.

"Anika..."

"Huh." I looked up at him.
