I weakly look at Gavin, smiling a little, one arm draped over Hank's shoulders, the other over Connor's. "H-h-hey d-d-d-detective-e." My vocal systems are still struggling to get back in order, but it's no longer mostly static. He looks at me in shock, "How...," his voice trails off for a moment, "how did you survive..?" I shrug slightly, "I-I-I-I don't-t-t know G-Gavin."
He moves so that Hank and Connor can help me into the apartment, and behind them is Markus, with a backpack. "Aren't you...?" Gavin starts to say. He locks eyes with the deviant leader, and Markus nods and says, "Yes, I am. It's nice to meet you, detective Reed. I've heard a lot about you." He walks into the apartment as Hank and Connor set Nines on the couch.
I weakly nod at Hank and Connor, who smile a little, and then Markus walks over, and he says, with a smile, "At least your eyes repair themselves." He laughs a little, joking about the fact that he has two different colored eyes since he deviated. I smile a little as he sets the bag down, pulling out some tools and he starts working on attaching a new part for my leg.
When he's done, he hands me a container of blue blood. "Drink it, you'll feel better soon enough." He looks at Hank and Connor and says, "It was nice to see you again Connor. It also is kinda nice to get away from Simon and North fighting all the time." He laughs slightly, and Connor smiles, "You better get back before they wreck everything. Say hi to North for me, and say hi to your boyfriend too." Markus' face turns a light shade of blue, and he smirks. "Can do."
Once Markus leaves, Hank and Connor stand by the couch as Gavin walks over to me. I drink the thirium and feel my systems start operating easier, and Gavin sits down next to me, still surprised I'm even here. I look at him, and say, "W-what is it, Gavin?" By now my vocal system is almost back to normal, and Gavin just looks at me in awe.
Hank smiles a little and says, "Well, Connor and I should get going, we have to feed Sumo." Connor makes a puzzled expression and says, "But didn't we-" Hank nudges the android, and Connor catches on to what's happening. "Ah yes. We have to feed Sumo, that's right." He says, and I smile, rolling my eyes.
The duo leave, now it's just Gavin and I sitting on the couch next to each other. "Nines...?" He says quietly. I look at him, and take his hand in mine, and quietly say, "Yes Gavin?" He looks at me, tears forming in his eyes, "Why did you sacrifice yourself for me?" I pause, looking at him, "Because I can be replaced. You on the other hand," I say, pulling him weakly into a hug, "are irreplaceable."
