Little Anne's smile was the only thing that made this day get better, that and her wide arms toward me as she repeatedly said, "Mama!"
Dally had come into the diner for breakfast but once he realized I was his waitress, he stayed around until lunch to torment me. Veronica and Bailey were my heros when they showed up and provided me an escape.
Tonight, Anne and I were going to a drive in. I tried to go out and do something with her atleast one night a week. She was a good baby so a movie was never a problem. She usually fell asleep by the end but I still liked being able to go out.
Sometimes I would ask the girls to come along too but they both had dates. It was just Anne and I tonight.
We took a seat towards the front and were ready for a nice night until a certain someone showed up to ruin it.
He sat behind me and started saying things that were less than pure. I was glad Anne was already out because I had no plans of exposing her to this kind of language, especially this young.
"Just leave us alone," I said as I clenched my jaw to hold back my anger.
"Us? I think you're forgetting that you're alone, dame." Dally was quick to talk.
I looked back at him, "I think you're forgetting that I have a child in my lap." He must not of noticed because he looked over my shoulder and stared in shock.
He looked back at me, "This why you ignore me? You got yourself a kid?"
I rolled my eyes as he got up and stormed off.
