The DX was empty except for three teenage girls that seemed to be throwing themselves at Soda.
"Hey," Veronica called to get Steve's attention.
Steve smiled when he saw her, "Hey! Are you here for your car?" She nodded and he motioned for her to follow him back.
Soda shrugged off the girls and came over, "Bailey! I didn't expect to see you so soon, but while you're here, you wanna grab a pepsi?" I smiled and nodded. He ran off but returned a moment later with two bottles.
Just as we finished them, three boys came in. One I recognized as Dallas, but the other two looked a lot younger. One looked a bit like Soda. Just as I thought that, Soda ran over to him.
"Pony! I got a friend you should meet."
He pulled him over to me, "Pony, Bailey. Bailey, Pony."
I reached out and shook his hand, "It's nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you." His ears turned red as he stared at me in silence, a bashful grin on his lips.
Soda stepped in, "That's Dally and Johnny."
I couldn't look at Dallas without laughing and thinking of this morning.
He all but glared at me, "You got a problem?"
I just laughed harder, "I'm sorry." I laughed some more, "I was just wondering if you enjoyed your night?"
He was confused for a second before understanding spread across his features.
Even if he now understood, everyone else was confused.
I stopped laughing enough that I could speak, "Veronica and I saw him sneaking out of a friend's this morning in last night's clothes." I burst into more laughter. Ponyboy's ears turned red again, Soda just sighed but didn't seem surprised, and Johnny stood quietly by Dally's side but looked uncomfortable.
I turned to Soda, "Is this kinda thing regular for him?"
Before Soda could answer, Dallas tried to defend himself, "It wasn't like that. It was more of a favor."
Soda looked at him in disbelief while Pony's face turned red. I burst out laughing again.
Dallas rolled his eyes, "Not like that. She asked me to stay because she didn't feel safe."
Soda spoke up with a suggestive tone, "So you were playing hero?"
Dallas scoffed, "Oh for crying out loud, the baby sleeps in her room!"
Johnny finally spoke up, "With a baby in the room? Tell me she wasn't married."
Dallas threw his hands up, "Nothing happened! I stayed in the guest room in case she needed something!"
Johnny seemed to relax at hearing that and Pony started returning to his normal color but Soda didn't seem convinved, "Nothing happened? Are you sure?"
Dally rolled his eyes, "I'm sure."
Sodapop still seemed unsure, "But she's almost exactly how you described your ideal 'type', if it's the friend I'm thinking of."
Dally was on the verge of blushing now, "I don't know what you're talking about." He looked like he'd shut Soda up if he tried continuing but Soda didn't notice.
Soda seemed taken aback, "Sure ya do! Just last week you were telling me what ya like in a lady: light hair, dark eyes, don't take crap, motherly-"
Dally cut him off, "That's enough." Dally folded his arms in a matter that resembled a pout.
Out front came a honk and we turned to see Veronica driving with Steve hanging out the window.
Once she caught my eye, she waved and drove off.
"Well, there goes my ride," I sighed.
Soda wrapped his arm around my shoulders, "How about I walk you home?"
I smiled, "Sounds amazing."
