Chaos Blast: Part 3

Tails and Amy stood motionless in front of the menacing robot. It was as if one small movement would set the thing off.

Metal Sonic looked over his shoulder, noticing a frozen Knuckles. Knuckles glanced over at Amy and Tails. He let out a low growl and raised his fists, preparing for a fight.

Tails couldn't help but feel... well, helpless. When he was in the sky, he had seen Metal Sonic zooming toward the battle. That's why he had rushed over as quickly as he could, to warn Knuckles or Sonic of the on-coming threat. But he was... too late. Guilt ate at the two-tailed fox as he watched the scene in horror.

Metal Sonic turned his whole body around to face the hot-headed guardian. The two stared each other down until the blue robot broke the silence.

"Priority Number One: Obtain the Master Emerald." he said in a monotonous voice.

Knuckles steamed. "You're not getting anywhere near the Master Emerald!"

Metal Sonic nodded "Very well, then. You shall meet your demise."

Tails' whole body shook out of fear. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Amy slowly raising her hammer, looking as though she had seen a ghost. Deadly pale.

Tails took an involuntary step back, not wanting to get involved with Metal Sonic. If Sonic packed quite the punch, Metal Sonic would prove he was just as deadly. That one crucial movement gained Metal Sonic's unwanted attention. Tails panicked and froze up, almost like a statue.

Using the distraction to his advantage, Knuckles leapt into action and swung his fist at the metal doppleganger. But Metal had seen this coming. He caught the fist with such ease that everyone had been caught off guard. Especially Knuckles. The robot turned his gaze back to the stunned guardian. He stared at Knuckles with an empty glare that sent shivers down Tails' spine.

Metal Sonic then tossed Knuckles over his shoulder, sending him crashing into a rock. A spider web of cracks ran all along the rock, starting from where Knuckles had hit it.

Knuckles got up with a groan and glared at the robot before him. Metal Sonic looked on in silence.

Suddenly, his thrusters flared to life and Knuckles was pelted with a flurry of fists. Knuckles dodged many of the hits and was able to send some of his own, though none of them hit their intended target, which only seemed to further Knuckles' rage.

Metal Sonic appeared behind the red hero in a flash, seeming as if he had just teleported, and landed a hit to Knuckles' head.

Tails gasped as he heard the sickening crunch of bones as the metal fist collided with the red echidna's cranium. Knuckles dropped to his hands and knees, wiping away the blood trailing from his mouth. The fight was over in seconds. No one had clearly seen what had happened aside from Knuckles and Metal Sonic. All Tails and Amy saw were blurs ramming into each other.

Now that the fighting had stopped, Tails got a good look at Knuckles. The hero's red fur was covered in purplish/blackish splotches. Let's just say, it was a look that did not suit him well.

Metal Sonic looked down upon Knuckles as the red hero tried to get back up, only to fail and collapse back on the ground. The robot's red eyes glinted with murderous intent.
