Third Person

It was pretty late at night, a couple of days after the boys left Atlanta. They were somewhere in between Philadelphia and Boston. They had finished the Philadelphia show and had gotten on the bus at around 10:25 pm, and whilst a lot of the guys went to sleep as soon as possible, Jonah and Zach were sat on the leather seats, both doing their own things.

Jonah put down Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and looked over at the younger teen, who held a pad of paper in his hand, and was tapping a pen on the edge of it, obviously thinking.

"You really do like her, don't you?" Jonah said, breaking the comfortable silence that they had been sat in, just the sound of the bus on the roads. Zach put down his paper, but kept the pen, fiddling with it.

"Yeah." He finally answered, grinning. Jonah smiled at his answer, and sat up more, looking over at the paper.

"You're writing a song?" Jonah asked, and he watched as a faint blush appeared on Zach's cheeks, and as he nodded slowly, waiting for it to fade. "Is it about her?" Was the next question Jonah asked, almost cautiously.

"Well it's not gonna be about anyone else." Zach replied, looking up - still smiling.

"Obviously." Jonah laughed. "Do you think Alex feels the same?"

Zach couldn't help but grin when he heard Alex's name. All he could think of since they left Atlanta, which was almost five days ago now, was the kiss.. or kisses. He missed her. The two young teens had obviously connected - it was clear to everyone that they liked each other.

And even though most of their relationship was through their phones, the teen couldn't help but miss her. Zach missed everything about her - the fact she could trust him with things she hadn't told Mia and Luna, how she practically glowed when she smiled or laughed. Or it could be that on that night on the roof of a hotel, they felt completely alone, laughing about random things, talking and falling in what could be almost compared to love.

"I hope so." Was Zach's reply, and he shrugged, picking up the paper and fiddling with the corner, folding it backwards and then forwards, creasing it.

"You're worried she doesn't." Jonah concluded, and when Zach stopped fiddling with the paper and looked at him, he knew he was right. Sitting up so he was fully focused, and not slouched against the leather seats, Jonah looked at Zach, who carefully avoided looking anywhere other than his feet.

"Would she have kissed you if she didn't?" Jonah asked Zach. "She isn't the type of person to just kiss people, Zach - you could've figured this out."

"I know that she isn't gonna kiss me just for the hell of it." Zach said. "She definitely is nowhere near that type of person. I'm probably just over thinking."

"Ok." Jonah said, getting up and taking his Harry Potter with him. "I'm gonna sleep. You should sleep soon too - don't stay up all night writing."

"Yes mom." Zach laughed, rolling his eyes, and Jonah smiled, before slowly walking to his bunk, hearing the scratch of pen against paper as he did.
