"I don't get why I need to be there."

Chaehyun held the phone up to his ear, shaped eyebrows furrowed and hand on top of his head as a soft pout formed on his lips, confusion written all over his face. He wasn't saying that to be mean, not in the slightest, he was delighted to attend his younger sisters talent show, however, Daeyoon had insisted that he had to be there like it was compulsory.

Daeyoon sighed. "Fine, Hanra really wants you to be there, she's been talking about impressing you all week yet won't ask you to come, something about you being too famous to attend something silly like this and she doesn't want to bother you since you have enough on your plate. So, for our baby sister will you please try and be there. Don't tell her either, I want her to be surprised and hopefully mess up."

Chaehyun nodded. "I'll be there and stop wishing failure upon our baby sister, Yoon. Any events you want me to attend?"

"I don't do events. I just lay in bed all day being the disappointment of the family since I have no talents." Chaehyun resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He hated when his siblings put themselves down.

"You're not a disappointment for starters, I mean you're not as good as me, but you're getting there. Also, I know for a fact that you're good at basketball and that's a talent." The older spoke with a smile, only fading when he heard his younger brother sigh.

"Yeah, but you're better at it. It's like you was born with every talent on earth." He wasn't wrong, Chaehyun was extremely good at sports, played many instruments and could dance exceptionally well. He was also polite and good looking, making him almost perfect.

"I'm not better at it. Nobody is better at something. You just need to keep at it instead of comparing yourself to me constantly. I'm not all Everyone makes me out to be, Dae. I have my fair share of flaws just like everybody else. I'll be at your next basketball game, I've gotta go practise. Anything you need before I go?"

Daeyoon was smiling. No matter how many times the two bickered, Chaehyun always made him feel better about himself.

"No, that's it. I'll text you the details for Ra's talent show. Text me if you can't make it. I love you, break a leg tonight," grinned the younger, "I'll be watching."

Chaehyun chuckled. "Don't jinx it, idiot. I love you too bye, get plenty of rest and make sure you're both eating. I'll call you tonight after the show if I haven't already passed out. Bye bro!"

"Bye."

And with that, the two brothers disconnected the call. In two different cities, but connected by heart. Smiling, Daeyoon fell back on his bed and sighed, wondering just how lucky he was to have such an annoying, yet caring brother like Chaehyun.

_____________
The talent show night.
_____________

Hanra felt sick to her stomach, dressed up with the microphone in her shaky hand, she looked through the curtain nervously. Her grandparents nor Daeyoon was there yet and she felt the slightest bit disheartened at the thought of Chaehyun having no idea. She wanted so badly for him to watch her perform. She wanted him to be proud and within seconds, she regretted not telling him.

Pulling away from the curtain, she turned around to face her friend who was currently obsessing over, guess who? Her brother.

"Is he coming?" The fifteen year old asked hopefully.

Hanra bit her lip and shook her head softly, holding back the tears which were inches from falling. She didn't have parents, she only had her grandparents and two big brothers and one of them was off being a star. She wanted him back, missed him more than anything, but she was proud. Sometimes she felt like her friends only wanted her around because of him, it hurt and so, she pushed the thoughts out of her mind and allowed the nerves to cloud her mind.

"What took you so long?" Asked Daeyoon as his older brother pulled down the mask, avoiding the eyes of a few teenage girls watching the two suspiciously. They clearly recognised Daeyoon and Chaehyun hoped they hadn't noticed him. "What's with the moustache?" The younger fiddled with the taped on moustache causing Chaehyun to slap his hands away.

"Dreamies helped me get the disguise together and made me promise I would wear the moustache," explained Chaehyun with a sigh, ripping it off his face, "Jisung has one hell of a cute pouty face. I couldn't say no."

Daeyoon chuckled and lead the older boy over to their grandparents who were waiting by the entrance. His grandmothers eyes lit up at the sight of her grandson immediately and rushed to tug him into her arms.

"Oh, Chaehyun! Rara is going to be so delighted that you're here! Thank you for coming my Love, I've missed you." She pressed a kiss to his cheek before allowing him to greet his grandfather.

"I've missed you guys too."

A little while later, the group were seated and Chaehyun's grandmother forced the disguise off of his head. Giving her a pout, she couldn't help but chuckle and mumble something about him still being a baby.

As the lights flickered on and music began, the older boy couldn't help but feel nervous for his baby sister.
___
"Hanra! He's here! Lachlan is here!"

Hanra's ears perked and she peeled through the curtain, heart beating far too fast for her liking. Surely enough, the obsessed friend was correct, her older brothers had attended the show. She couldn't help but giggle at the sight of Chaehyun trying to tear the fake moustache out of their grandmother's hand.

With a new found confidence, she wasn't in this to win. She was in it to impress her big brothers.
_______

As she walked on the stage shyly smiling, Chaehyun couldn't help but grin with Daeyoon yelling beside him something like, "get it baby sis', he couldn't help but cringe, clapping as he locked eyes with the young girl.

"This song I'm about to sing was written and performed by my older brother, Chaehyun. Some of you may know him as Lachlan from Nct, but I know him as my rock, big brother and the person that has been through so much yet still manages to throw on a happy smile. Chae I love you." And with a few cooes from the audience, he mouthed the words back.

"Clearly I'm her favourite," he whispered to the younger boy beside him who was sulking. Daeyoon rolled his eyes causing Chaehyun to pull him into his arms and waited for the music to start.

_____

Hanra ran into the arms of her older brother, he lifted her off the ground and span her around, she held the trophy in her hand and smiled as he pressed a kiss to her cheek.

"I'm proud of you, Ra! I didn't know you could sing my song better than me," exclaimed Chaehyun.

"No we all knew she could. No one had the heart to tell you that she's better than you," Daeyoon pointed out, also taking the girl in his arms. Chaehyun rolled us eyes. "And thanks for pointing me out by the way! I exist too y'know! He wouldn't be here if it wasn't for me."

Hanra's eyes grew wide as she squeezed Daeyoon tight. "Thank you, Dae! I love you both!"

"Hey what about us?" Hanra headed towards her grandparents, leaving the two boys standing together.

"So, when's your next basketball game?"

Daeyoon smirked. "31st February."

"But there is no-"

"Exactly."
