"How was school?" FP asked as Jughead got inside the trailer. His eyes instantly found the empty bottle of scotch on the table. Jughead sighed.
"Don't do this dad." He mumbled. He was heartbroken and tired and sad and hurt and disappointed and mad. All he wanted to do was to run as far away as possible and never look back again. "Don't pretend you care."
"I do care." Jughead knew he did. But it was easier shutting his dad out than engaging in a conversation that would end in them fighting.
"I know dad." He said. FP looked at his son who walked into his room and sighed. He just wanted a good relationship with his son. But everything was so complicated. Jughead got inside his room and took his lighter out of his pocket and a green pen fell to the floor. He picked it up and put it back into his pocket and lit a cigarette. He inhaled the fumes and felt relieved as the burning feeling filled his throat and lungs. He sat down in his bed and blew out the smoke. Watching the smoke disappear into nothing. "Damn it." He sighed and closed his eyes. He didn't even know why he said it. It just felt right in the moment. He picked up his phone and started to scroll through Instagram. A picture of Jellybean popped up and he stared at her. She looked so grown up now. Her hair was now a darker blonde tone instead of the same raven hair as he had himself. The same color his dad had. She looked so happy as she laughed in the picture and Jughead realized how much he missed the little girl he used to play soccer with. Without thinking about it he called her."Jughead?" Jughead smiled.
"Hi, Jellybean." He said.
"Jughead...it's actually JB now." She sighed and he laughed.
"I'm sorry, JB but to me you're always Jellybean." She sighed.
"I hate you." She sighed and he kept laughing. "What is it, is everything okay?" Jughead took another drag. He really really missed her.
"Yeah...I just...I was thinking of paying the two of you a visit maybe?" He tried not to sound as desperate as he was.
"With FP?" Jughead could hear the worry in her voice as she asked him and it made his already broken heart break a little more.
"No, no, no." He quickly reassured her. "I wouldn't let him near you." He heard a sigh of relief from his younger sister. "If I got the right information from the Serpents you live in Greendale now, right?"
"Yeah...we moved from New York a few weeks ago." Jughead threw his cigarette out of the window.
"How about you give me the adress and I'll be there ina couple of hours?" Jughead said.
"I...I don't know if that is a good idea. Mom is pretty pissed at you for assaulting dad." Jughead frowned. When did he assault FP?
"Dad?" He asked.
"Leonard." She quickly corrected herself. "I meant Leonard."
"Jellybean. I'm coming. I miss you...I haven't seen you since...since..." He tried to figure out when he last saw her.
"Since I was four Jug. When we came to pick up some of mom's stuff."
"Right.""Mom?" I say as I run into the warm arms of mom. "Are you back? For good?" Mom looks at me and smiles. But I know she isn't happy. Her eyes are filled with tears and I reach out my hand to wipe them away.
"No Jughead." She kiss me on the cheek and I push myself closer to her. "I'm just getting some stuff. Where...where is your dad?" I notice that she looks worried.
"He's at the bar." I shrug and she lets me go. When she stands up she looks at me.
"Of course he is, that stupid son of a bitch."
"Mom, where is Jellybean?"
"She's in the car." Mom says and I smile.
"Can I see her?" Mom nods and points outside.
"Go say hi to her and I'll pack my stuff." I nod and run outside with only my socks on. When I open the car a small little girl with blue eyes looks at me.
"Hi Jellybean. It's me, Jughead." I smile at her and she smiles back.
"Hello." She says and kiss her on the cheek.
"I've missed you." I hug her tightly.
"Missed you too."
"I promise to take care of you, okay? I'll protect you from dad. I promise." My eyes filled with tears and I quickly dry them away. She can't see me cry. I have to be strong. I watch as mom walk out of the house and I smile at her. "Let's go." I say. She stops for a second.
"Oh baby...you...you aren't coming with us." She opens the car and puts her bags in there.
"What do you mean?" I ask. I want to go with her. I don't want to stay with dad...he's so so mean when he is drunk.
"I don't...I don't have the money to take care of you...I'm so sorry." I start to cry.
"Please mom, take me with you. I don't want to live here." I whisper. "Dad is so mean." She looks at me and sits down in front of me.
"Jughead...you have to be strong." She take my hands in hers. "Promise me you will be strong, for me? I'll come get you as soon as I can, okay?" She say and I shake my head.
"Don't go mom!" I cry and she pulls me closer to her.
"I'm so sorry love, but I have to go before dad comes home." She lets me go and stands up. I look at her through my tears.
"Please mom." I hysterically cry but she just ignores me as she sits down in the car. "Please mom!" I yell. She opens the window of the car.
"I'm sorry baby."
"MOM!" I shout as I watch the car drive away into the sunset. I fall to the ground crying as I pretend that she will come back soon.
