30. Endless Eyes

6 2 3

My eyes latched onto your face
The second you entered the pizza place
They desperately tried to make your face turn
So your eyes could burn into mine

How I wished I was the waitor
Just so I can hear your voice
To have your attention just for a few moments
To have you depend on me for a few moments

Oh how you looked at the waiter
As your eyes wondered to him
I couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy
A tinge of want
The want to have your eyes wonder around the room
To latch onto the second eyes

You never did
For a moment I thought I was dead
The way your eyes would wonder
But could never really see what was in front of you

That... that scared me
My mind drifted off to ones like you
Before you
How much you were similar to them
Just like you
They never saw me
The moments of the feeling of being dead
The wishes to be the other eyes they latched onto
The tinges of jealousy
The wants

You were just like them
I realised
As I left

And once again my eyes latched onto another face
The second I left the pizza place
