Moments like these are worth waiting for
As we sit around the dining table
So much laughter and chatter
The clashing of plates
The spoons feeding the mouths full of food and stories
Look around to see every chair filled
Not a single space around the love-filled home
The grinning faces of my family
That warm Christmas
These are the moments worth waiting for
The clock strikes;
Another Christmas
As we sit around the dining table
Seats are getting emptier
Laughter and chatter getting quieter than the other years
The careful eating and scraping of plates can be heard
The deafening silence awaiting its grand entrance
So much space, I thought
As I shuddered
Everyone of us rubbing our arms despite the hot temperature in the room
