34. Hostages

We are hostages to our own country
As we walk with fear
Eyes wide open
Looking out just in case our brothers or sisters come out of the dark

The betrayal of our own kind
The betrayal of my neighbour

The betrayal of the eyes
As they watch but later look away
The disloyal feet that walk away from the scene;
Away from another struggling human being attacked by his own kind

Their need for materialistic things
We watch as it overpowers their humanity
We watch as they walk away
Leaving the struggling human
Either dead or hopefully alive
Without a wallet, a phone nor a laptop bag

How does it feel?

The robots attached to the walls
Watching it as it happens
Staying as neutral and uninterested like them
The tape automatically saved like it is in their brains

We fear our own people
We fear our own streets
We fear our own country
We are hostages!

They've all witnessed it
Nothing new...
Just another crime that's going to be viewed on Twitter
And later forgotten until a new one earns more likes and comments.
