Gilbert pov
"Diana had to stick up for me today because a boy commented on my hair today, I was always expecting someone to of course, and he called me a rat, so nothing new, huh,"
I was shocked by the words I just heard, nothing new, whats that meant to mean?
"Anne?" I could hear the worry in my voice myself"Gilbert ! What on earth do you think you're doing? Are you eavesdropping! I knew you were a rude boy but this, this is another level, and how DARE you come to my special spot! You selfish brat!"
My eyes widened at the sound of the words that she just shouted, "your spot huh? and how long have you been here? 5 minutes?" I couldn't believe I was just rude to her, I just couldn't help it
"Oh sorry Blythe didn't know you were the sarcastic type as well as rude," she mocked me, yet I wasn't listening I was just watching, watching her
"Uh whatever Blythe, what are you doing here?" she sat down on the tree stump beside her
"I came to talk to my father actually, I need his help," I looked out onto the shining waters, the breeze blowing past my cold cheeks
"Ha, what is he a tree!?" Anne chuckled to herself, she sounded proud of herself for the comment yet I decided to ignore it, I didn't want to spill my heart out to a girl I'd just met
"Ha yeah," I joked back, if only she knew "is it my turn now? To interrogate you on what you're doing here?" I looked down at her as she rolled her deep green eyes
"If you must know, I came to think and this is the perfect spot, the water glistens and this was the first place I saw when I arrived in Avonlea,"
she looked out to the water, it was beautiful but I couldn't take my eyes off her, I just wouldn't, couldn't
"Blythe?" I shook myself back to reality, "Er yeah?" I stuttered
"You were staring weirdo,"She chuckled to her self, rubbing her arms I could see the goosebumps, it was awfully cold, why didn't she have a coat?
"Anne why don't you have a coat? It's so cold out here!" I raised my eyebrow in confusion.
"I prefer feeling the nature, even if it's cold I quite like it really," she smiled again, god that smile
"Here," I started to lift my sweater off my chest, my t-shirt lifting but I didn't notice
"take mine, really, it's cold out here," I held my sweater out, offering it to the girl, only to find her with her eyes directly looking at my chest,
"earth to Anne?" I chuckled
"Er yes- hi" she looked up at me" the sweater, for you," I smirked, knowing exactly what she was looking at, and for some reason I didn't mind on bit.
"Fine, but I don't need a man or a stupid sweater, I'm only taking it so I'm not rude and reject your offer, that's all," she held her chin up and pulled it over her head, her hair flipping at laying gently on her delicate shoulders
"Whatever you say Annie," I knew I hit a nerve with the nickname but I couldn't help it, I loved getting a reaction from here. I was anticipating a hit of insults but thank goodness for my sake my phone began to ring
"Gotta take this," I smirked knowing she was about to spring an attack on me. I swiped my phone to see Bash's contact lighting up my screen
-
"Blythe? I need you to come home
mate, I need some help with this ruddy cottage pie is pretty sure I've ruined it,""Coming Bash, ill be as quick as I can"
" Oh it's fine you can carry on with your date, come back when you're finished," I heard him chuckling to himself on the other end
"I'll be 10 minutes bash, and it's not, more like a insult match"
"Whatever you say Blythe"
-
I rolled my eyes at the comment and slid my phone back in my trouser pocket
"Alright I've got to get back to bash, he needs some help back home," I awaited a reply from the red head sat in front of me
"Alright, well er I'll see you tomorrow then Gilbert," She turned to face me and my stomach churned
"Yeah, yes, I will yes," I chuckled to myself, why can't I just speak normally?
"Er okay er it was er nice speaking to you," she looked into my eyes for a second before breaking the contact and looking back at the water
"See you Annie," I smirked walking back up the path, my arms covered in goosebumps

"Wait! Gilbert! Your sweater," but there was no hope, Gilbert was already too far and the wind was blowing, Anne's shouting was hopeless, she held the sleeves in her hands.
The scent of the boy covering her like a cloud, a cloud of vanilla and musk, Anne made her way home, she was exhausted from the day she'd just had.
She jumped on her bed and before she knew it, she was fast asleep.
Anne Shirley Cuthbert was fast asleep with Gilbert's jumper on and she never thought once of taking it off
