"hey Lucy" Gareth called from behind me "are you ready for the press conference?" I nodded "okay just one quick announcement needs to be made, Ross is going back home because of everything so you may be asked a few questions about that" he explained nervously
"wow okay I'm just gonna chat to pr first to make I don't say anything stupid" I said running off "see you in 10 minutes"
"okay before we take any questions we have some team news. Last night at the team meal there was an incident with Ross Barkley and Lucie Scott our team assistant. Ross was very clearly in the wrong so has been sent home from international duty until further assessment from the police" Gareth announced and the conference continued
"Lucy you're Jesse Lingard's girlfriend right?" one reporter asked
"yes I am" I answered wondering why it was necessary to know
"so can you tell us any details that we might not know about him?" he continued
"first of all this is a World Cup press conference, I'm not just someone's girlfriend, I'm England's team assistant who's boyfriend happens to be to be Jesse Lingard. Secondly press conference's aren't for answering personal questions about my life, all you need to know is that I love Jesse and I love the team and we should be focussing on supporting them throughout this journey. "thank you, goodbye" I said getting up and leaving the conference
