'Jason?' I whisper, tears beginning to form in both our eyes. I run to him, hugging him tightly. We didn't say anything, we just held each other close and cried. He took my hand and led me to the Quad. As we sit in the late afternoon sun, he slowly takes hold of my hand and turns to look me straight in the eyes.
'Why did you do it?' he asks as calmly as he can. I can see the tears beginning to form in his eyes again, I don't know how to answer him.
'Everything was fine, but then it felt like everyone was leaving me. I wanted to talk to you but I thought you were too busy a-and...' I burst into tears and hug him tightly. He starts crying too and we just sit there in each other's arms, the occasional sob breaking out from our embrace.
After a while, I hear footsteps and look up, wiping away the tears. As I glance at the approaching figure, I recognise it as Ash. Ash was the first resident I ever met here, he was my first friend here. As he pulls away from our welcoming hug, he looks at me, his grey eyes examining my green ones. 'Are you ok? I heard that Jason was here' as if on cue, my brother makes his way over to us with a questioning look on his face.
Ash's face is bearing the smile I know all too well as he takes in Jason and his appearance. I had almost forgotten that he had a thing for blondes. By blondes, I mean blonde guys. I roll my eyes and subtly kick him in the shin. Of course, no matter how subtle I am, Ash never will be: as soon as my foot makes contact with his shin, he lets out a cry of pain and his hand flies to his leg which is now probably red. Jason gives me a disapproving glare before beginning to walk off. 'Where are you going?' I call after him as he stops and turns around.
'I was thinking of checking out the tennis courts. Wanna come? It can be like old times' he smiles, holding out his hand for me to take. I give a little goodbye wave to Ash as I scamper off to join my brother.
