Chapter 2: Recovery

Me and four other soldiers marched along an alleyway, weapons set to stun, meanwhile I was going over what happened, the man who was giving the speech, whoever that was, he seemed he knew a lot, he did say we were from different places, I wonder what he meant by that?

D.A.N.I.E.L: if I were to say something sir, it would be best not to think about it too much.

Jake: wait, how did you...

D.A.N.I.E.L: Sorry sir, I forgot to mention that the helmet you are wearing contains a mind-reading implant

Woah, paranoid much, whoever made these battle suits obviously wanted to make sure that everyone was doing as they were told to

D.A.N.I.E.L: make a right turn here

The five of us turned and found ourselves in front of a double door colored red, and decorated with gold trimming

Jake:  Uh, D.A.N.I.E.L, what are we doing here?

D.A.N.I.E.L: objective, find rare relic at the back of the building, set blasters to disintegrate

Jake: disintergrate! That sounds a little to harsh don't you think, I mean there must be another...

D.A.N.I.E.L: objective, find rare relic at the back of the building, set blasters to disintegrate

Okay Okay, jez, I set my blaster to disintegrate, the others did the same and we entered the building. Inside were priceless paintings and decorative vases, what could we possibly want from this place, there are plenty of items in this lobby that would be good for the taking.

Jake: I guess we split up then, you two go right, you two go left, I'll take the middle

We moved on from there, I past many shiny things on Quartz pillars, but that was beside the point, I had to think. My brain was working overtime, and every time I tried to remember something it gave me a minor headache that would eventually wear off, why can't I remember anything. Alright maybe if I retrace my steps I can figure out what's going on here, now lets see, the first thing I remember is waking up in that metal room, ok so far so good, now what happened before that, that's when it hit me, I felt a shock when I woke up, like electricity through my arm, it was that jolt that awoken me.

D.A.N.I.E.L: relic located, proceed forward with caution

Okay noted, there was a safe in the room, behind the large wooden desk

Jake: so what now?

D.A.N.I.E.L: point right arm at safe

I did as he said, suddenly a laser shot out from my arm, I then moved my arm so it cut through the safe door and the lock, the metal fell from its hinges and fell to the floor with a loud bang. I moved closer to the safe, and what was inside but looked like a flashlight but without the lightbulb inside, I took it out of the safe to examine it more closely, it had a button on one side, I pushed it and the thing extended, now it looked like a staff, and a really cool looking one at that.

D.A.N.I.E.L: warning, enemy heat signatures detected, make your way to meeting point immediately

He was right, I heard something coming through the door at the front, without hesitation I sprinted for the exit, while running I could hear the other soldiers fighting, I could also hear the screams of the intruders being disintegrated. That's when I stopped in my tracks, the screaming, the yelling in fear, I've heard that all before, but where, when?. I shook my head and I continued toward the front door, I almost made it but one of the people got in my way, it was a woman, and she was holding a baseball bat. She took an downward swing, I blocked it with my blaster, she continued to try and hit me, but every single time I denied her, finally it was my turn, I hit her with the butt of my blaster, knocking her the ground, the baseball bat had left her hand, I turned my blaster around so that the front was facing her, I was about ready to pull the trigger, but I looked in her eyes, they were filled with fear, she was terrified, I listed my gun

Jake: this isn't right, I don't know how but I know that this is wrong

That was the wrong time to let my guard down, cause while I was distracted someone else snuck up behind me and hit me with a chair, it sent me falling to the ground, but when I opened my eyes I wasn't in the lobby anymore, I got up and looked around, there was a chair under a light, the rest of where I was black

????: Let me go, get your hands off me

Four of those soldiers each were holding on to something and set it on the chair. It was me, there was anger in my eyes, a sixth figure emerged from the darkness, I couldn't see who it was, his form had been completely blacked out

???????: You should have destroyed me when you had the chance

Jake: I'll never forgive you, I will make you pay for what you did to her

???????: Don't worry, when I'm finished you won't even remember what had happened

That voice, it was the person who was talking to us earlier

Jake: even without my memories I will defeat you

???????: You can try, but it will already be too late, sweat dreams Jake, it will be nice to meet you again for the first time

The past me struggled in the chair, then there was a big flash of light. I opened my eyes and got up off the floor

S soldier #1: commander, are you okay

I wiped the dust off of me, but it took me a few seconds to realize that it wasn't dust

Jake: I'm fine, (holds staff in hand) we have what we came for, let's get back to base
