It was my first day working at Mrs Choi's flower shop with her son Beomgyu. The winter holiday's recently started and I insisted that I would work full time for her until school started again.

Suddenly, I heard a quiet bell ring. The cold breeze made me shiver as it came in and let the warm vanilla scent escape. A customer came in. It was awkward sitting in the small shop alone with Beomgyu doing nothing except staring into his phone.

I lifted my head up from the table and saw a young boy wearing a light blue t-shirt tucked into his black skinny jeans. He came in and saw Beomgyu. Beomgyu looked up from his phone and they smiled at each other.

'Oh, you're finally here, huh?' said Beomgyu to the random customer. Or was he just a customer?

'It's not my fault the bus came late,' said the stranger. Suddenly his eyes met mine and he smiled. 'Who's that?' he asked Beomgyu.

'Oh,' Beomgyu walked towards the counter where I was sitting, pulling the stranger along with him. I sat up as they came closer to me. 'This is Y/N, Y/N this is Taehyun. You should get used to him coming here,' he said to me. I sent a small smile to Taehyun.

'Are you a new worker?' Taehyun asked me curiously. I nodded. 'So, Mrs Choi finally found another employee. Where'd she pick you up from?' he asked friendly.

I was already awkward with social situations and this question made it worse. I got reminded of the traumatising past. Beomgyu noticed that it was a sensitive topic and answered for me quickly.

'What do you mean, mate? She was looking for a job and my mum gave it to her. Simple,'

'Let the girl talk,' said Taehyun to Beomgyu before turning back to me, waiting for me to speak. I sat in uncomfortable silence as the 2 boys starred at me patiently until, finally, I had built up the courage to say, 'He's right. It's simple,'

'I see...' Taehyun nodded, leaning into me.

'Ugh, you're making her uncomfortable, Taehyun. C'mon, let's wait for the rest of the boys and leave,' said Beomgyu. My ears perked up and I started wondering where he was going to go. He couldn't leave me alone on my first day, could he?

I decided to ask him later. He dragged Taehyun to the other side of the shop where they sat down on a small rectangular stool placed near the shelves.

It became silent once again as the boys went on their phones. The only source of noise was the quiet beats of background music playing through the speakers.

I sighed as I got bored and laid my head down on the desk. MInutes passed before another bell was heard.

I didn't put my head up fully whilst sitting up since I was feeling too lazy to. Instead, I tilted my head to the side and opened my eyes to see someone in a long black jacket come in.

I sat up and fixed myself up a bit, guessing that it wasn't one of Beomgyu's friends this time. He looked around a bit before finding a bouquet of red roses and picking them up.

After taking a glance at all of the roses and their condition, he walked over to where I was sitting and greeted me with a warm smile. 'This bouquet of roses please,' I heard his deep voice say. It was definitely an adult.

I smiled and took the roses. Beomgyu had told me that the price tag was supposed to be hung on a string which was tied around one of the flowers' stems in a bouquet.

I turned the bunch of roses in my hand around until I found a tag. I scanned it and told him the price which he had paid fully with a bit of extra cash. After giving him the correct amount of change he took the roses and left with another warm smile.
