Your POV

There wasn't much to do now that I couldn't go to the theater anymore. I found myself sitting by my window for hours at a time, peering towards the busy city. I couldn't see it from here, but I knew the rubble of the only other place—besides home, and even then it was a little sketch—I felt welcome in, laid spread out across the ground in pieces. It seemed crazy to miss something from a world that I didn't feel welcome in as much as I did. But I did...

"(Y/n)!" Eddie shouted happily, barging into my room without knocking. I would have been mad but the look on his face was so happy I simply couldn't.

"What is it?" I asked.

"The theater! They're going to rebuild it!" He said, grabbing my hands and pulling me up.

"Wait, they are?!" I said. A smile made its way into my face, and a laugh from that.

"Yes!" He exclaimed. "Come help us build it."

"Are-are you sure they want me there?" I asked.

Eddie nodded. "And-and I thought this could be your chance to..."

I knew what he meant. I know he meant this could be my chance to sing. "Maybe," I said, but I was almost certain that I wouldn't. "But I'd love to come help."

Eddie smiled once again. "Then, come on!" And I couldn't help but laugh when he started to pull me out of the room.

On arrival to the theater—or what was left of it—I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. Everyone was already there, including Johnny, who smiled at me slightly. Rosita started to show everyone a blueprint of what she thought the makeshift theater should look like, assigning jobs to all of us.

By the end I had dirt on my face and my sleeves rolled up—something that I didn't like to do, but I was smiling. I felt wanted, and needed. Everyone around me was happy to have me help them. All except Mike, but he was a jerk to everyone, even more so when he stomped off of the stage when Mr. Moon told him there wasn't any prize money.

It was time for the show to begin.

"Hey, Hey. We're putting on a show here!" I heard Miss Crawley shout from the sidewalk with her megaphone. "You all should come and see it! You! Come on! Come on, fella! It's gonna be really good!"

Peeking around the curtain I saw everyone running away from her. I sighed. I hoped more people than just Rosita's and Meena's families came, after all the work everyone put in.

I pulled away when I saw a reporter with a camera though. I just knew they were going to try to make us look bad.

"Okay, guys, listen up!" Buster announced. Everyone turned to look at him. "Look, I gotta tell you, um, there's not much of an audience out there tonight. But you know what? It doesn't matter. It really doesn't. Cause tonight is our night. And what happens happens, I just want you all to know how proud I am to be a part of this with you."
