As I walked to my locker before homeroom the next day, I noticed no one was making eye contact with me. Self consciously I stared at my feet, just trying to get to my locker alive.

In homeroom, people kept whispering. I couldn't tell what was being said, but I knew it was about me.

In first hour, I quickly went over to Heather Duke. She never paid attention in science anyway so it wasn't hard to speak to her. "Do you know why everyone's ignoring me?"

"Because of... y'know, last night." She grinned and flipped her hair.

"What about last night? I went out with Heather and Kurt and Ram. Nothing happened....?" I asked, really confused.

"That's not what they're telling everyone." She looked straight at me. "They said they had a little... sword fight in your mouth." She rolled her eyes. "I can't believe you would do that, Veronica."

"I didn't!" I protested, "that's disgusting!"

"Veronica, I would advise you to pay attention and stop distracting Heather," Mr. Karlson said from the front of the room.

Duke laughed. "The whole school knows, Veronica, there's no denying it now."
