Chapter 14

We could be beautiful
The kind of love people beg for

Shen Yue and Didi are taking a quick break from their rehearsal. They made themselves comfortable in the makeshift lounge for the artists who will perform tonight, waiting to be called back, they relished the short time alone together.

What's holding you back, Yue?

The thought kept replaying in her mind.

She didn't realise she's been looking at Wang He Di all this time.

The latter must have noticed and gave a slight chuckle then a smile.

"Are you okay, Shen Yue?"

His mischievous smile showed he noticed she's been ogling at him.

Heat creeping in her cheeks and heartbeat speeding up,

she rolled her eyes.

"I am FINE, Wang He Di, please wipe that stupid grin off your face."

"But I can't help it, Shen Yue."

"Why is that? Be careful with your answers, Wang He Di." She said in a pseudo-threat.

"Am I that handsome, Shen Yue?" He looked at her playfully.

"Unbelievable."

Didi laughed.

"And you look so gorgeous." He added.

"Stooooop." She said covering her face with her hands, embarrassed.

Didi peered at her and asked "why?"

"Nothing."

Didi held her hands away from her face and looked at her in the eyes.

"Are you falling in love with me, Shen Yue?"

The intensity of his eyes matched the intensity of his question as it weigh on her.

The conviction he showed her starting from his confession up to this point all came crashing down to her, making the walls she had purposely built to protect her gentle heart, crumbling like dirt as water run through it.

"I..."

"Shen Yue, Didi!"

The producer's voice startled the both of them, it was Yue who broke eye contact but Didi remained in front of her. She rose from her seat, and when she's about to leave, he grabbed her hand.

"We haven't finished talking."

"Yeah, I know, but they are calling us."

She had to leave. The realisation dawned on her like an avalanche, suffocating her.
But she also knows, she needs to face this head on.
