"Please open the door Owen. I swear I'll behave." I tried to bargain with him but instead he decided to start the car, not caring that I'd be left in the middle of nowhere. Alone.

Owen turned the key and was greeted with a clicking noise coming from probably his engine.

I stood and held my breath, waiting to see-- hear whether what I heard we right or not.

Owen turned the keys again but the sound was persistent.

I heard Owen curse out loud repeating his action of turning the key. When I heard the clicking sound again I couldn't help but double over with laughter.

Each time I tried to compose myself, the look on Owen's face would pop up in my head and I'd start laughing all over again.

When I finally sobered up, Owen had gotten out of the car glaring at me as if I was at fault.

"This all your fault!" He exclaimed and I swear I could see a vein pop in his temple.

"Me?!"

"Do you see anyone else around?" He retorted.

"You're just mad because your plan was a total flop." I chuckled. "At least you burnt some calories."

"Watch yourself Lyra." He warned and that got me to shut up.

He walked over to the front of his car and opened up the hood with a look of irritation.

"Do you know what this reminds me of?"

No response.

"The time at the shopping centre when the car battery died on me and someone refused to help me out." I said all the while looking at him.

I still didn't get a response but that didn't deter me from speaking up again.

"But unlike someone, I'm willing to help." I unfolded my hands that had been crossed over my chest and walked over to where Owen stood.

"What can I help out with?" I craned my neck to look up at him.

I heard him groan. Whether it was me talking or the dead battery, I had no idea.

"I don't even understand why you had to take the long way home. Was ditching me part of your plan the whole time?" I tried not to shout. "It sure didn't work out in your favour now did it?" I laughed a little.

"Do you ever shut up!" He roared in my face.

I took a step back from him and I saw a smirk crawl on his face.

"Are you scared now?"

"Yes I am scared." I whispered and took a dramatic pause before continuing. "That I'll pull a muscle in my neck from staring up at." I almost laughed as his smirk slipped away from his face. "Believe it or not, it's quite tedious having crane up my neck. Can you at least lower yourself a little when you're up close?"

In response, Owen closed the hood before going back in the car. I didn't waste any time, waiting for whatever it is that could be lurking out in the now chilly night, before following suit.

I tried to open the door but it was still locked. I looked up at Owen, who looked like he was deep in thought, before knocking on the window.

He didn't even bother looking my way before unlocking the door. I got in the car and sat down, making myself comfortable.

"What now?" I asked Owen to which he just shrugged.

We sat in silence as if waiting for help to appear out of the blue. Then it came to me.

"I think I know someone who can help." I grinned up at Owen.

Before he questioned me I took out my phone from my front pocket.

"I hope you're not playing any stupid song again."

I waved him off dismissively before dailing the number.

I waited with baited breath, hoping the call would go through. The call was about to disconnect before he picked up.

"To what do I owe this pleasant surprise?"

"Hey Abel." I said after releasing a sigh of relief. "I need your help."

"Sure what is it?"

"Well...um...The thing is that the car broke down and I can't see any card passing by. Can you please help me out?"

"Where are you?" His voice sounded urgent.

I told him where we were, with the help of Owen, and he said he'd be there as soon as he could.
