Lara sat on the edge of her bed, arms around Vanya. "Hey, hey. It' s ok, V. What Dad thinks is dumb. Even if you don't have any 'special powers'," Lara put air-quotes around 'special powers', "we'll find something you're good at. Something you're going to be amazing at. You'll be the best in the whole wide world. I promise."
"But I don't get to do anything. Every time you guys go on a mission, I'm just left to watch. I never have anything to do. And Dad makes it seem like it's my fault." Vanya sniffled, leaning into Lara.
"Vanya Hargreeves. Listen to me. Any time that you're bored, and we're not on a mission. I'll rescue you. I'll be your knight in shining armour, and you can be my princess. My damsel in distress!" Vanya laughed. "I'll make it my special job to make sure that you're never ever bored again!" The two of them laughed together. "I promise."
"Pinky promise?" Lara reached out her hand and linked her pinky with Vanya's.
"Pinky promise."
