"Ku ku ku. I am she who has fallen into the icy abyss and returned stronger. I am Kagome Fumiko, Master of Magic and Seeker of Hope, and you've done well to summon one such as me. But speak. What affliction plagues your lands so greatly that you require the power of one such as I?" Fumiko introduced herself as she was slowly lowered to the magic circle beneath her and the tall woman standing in front of it. Though while this scene was nothing new in her dreams, it was the first time that she was ever experiencing it in real life and it was taking all of the little discipline that she had inside of her in order to quell her excitement.

"Uh..." The woman hesitated while giving Fumiko the same look that she was already used to back in Japan. However, that didn't matter anymore, not seeing as she'd been summoned. "Your spirit is being offered the chance to transmigrate to another world of your choosing, so please decide on where you'd like to go."

"A chance? You mean that you are capable of transferring me to a world that may be in need of my wisdom and leadership?" Fumiko asked with a smirk. "I should have been transported directly to a world that needed my assistance when I was summoned, should I not have?"

"You were not summoned. I am the goddess known as Rea and you have appeared here because your body perished in your last world." The woman corrected her.

"Such a notion is ridiculous. How could one such as I have possibly perished?" Fumiko asked.

"You were struck by an eighty-year-old woman on her moped as she drove to a sale at a store near where you were walking." Rea answered. "But don't worry about her because you were light enough that she didn't fall. In fact, she has bad eyes so she didn't even notice that she'd hit you at all."

"Why am I supposed to worry about the woman that hit me and didn't even stop afterwards?!" Fumiko asked angrily before she coughed into her hand, regaining her composure as she continued her conversation. "Do you expect me to believe that? Such an event isn't possible even in the realm of madness."

"It is possible and it happened." Rea replied before waving her hand in front of her and making Fumiko feel strange. "I'm sorry, but there are other souls to manage and we need to hurry so I'll choose a world for you where your... condition may prove beneficial."

"Oy... My condition is none of your concern." Fumiko replied in an even tone. Though before she could speak again, she once again found herself floating downwards until Rea eventually disappeared from sight only to be replaced by seven gigantic purple crystals that all glowed with a soft light around her. And as they reflected her image, Fumiko couldn't help but to be somewhat saddened as her gothic lolita dress turned into bright specks of light around her until they eventually converged on her body again and turned into another outfit entirely.

While no longer in the dress that she'd been in before, Fumiko now found herself in a black and white dress that was similar to her other one. However, rather than having red ribbons in her hair like with her previous look, the ribbons had turned into a witch's hat that she couldn't help but think looked incredibly cool. And as her shoes turned into black boots on her feet and a pink ribbon appearing on one of the braids in her hair, the hair itself lost all of the black dye in it and the contact lenses that made her eyes red fell out as well, revealing her blonde hair and amber eyes.

"Ahhh! Do you know how long it took me to fix my look to be like that?!" Fumiko complained as the purple crystals began to spin in the air around her and a bright light appeared where she was floating towards. Though despite her objection to how she was supposed to look, she didn't seem to have any choice in the matter before she finally floated through the light and started feeling heavy again rather than having the weightless feeling that she'd had before. And once her legs moved in front of her and she felt as if she were sitting down on something, the light slowly faded from around her and she found herself sitting in grass on the side of a dirt road that lead to somewhere unknown. But as more of her surroundings were revealed, she discovered that she was in a small clearing what was surrounded by both forest and tall mountains. However, just as everything had been revealed, it disappeared into nothing but darkness in an instant as something fell over her head. Though when she lifted her hands to remove the leather that had covered her, she moved it in front of her to see that it was thankfully nothing more than an empty satchel as she'd been worried that this would be a scenario where the hero would be kidnapped right at the beginning of their journey.

While holding the open satchel in front of her, Fumiko jumped slightly in surprise as a smaller bag filled with what sounded like small bits of metal fell into the open bag. And even though she hadn't been expecting it, she welcomed the equipment that was currently falling out of the sky seeing as she simply would have been thrown into this world with nothing otherwise and that was never a good start. However, when a small book fell next, she didn't feel quite as grateful.

"Itai..." Fumiko flinched while holding her head as the book's edge had fallen directly on top of her. Though thankfully it wasn't that large and she couldn't contain her excitement anymore as she gazed at what she was guessing was her first real spell book. But she lost all of her excitement just as quickly as it had come as her world turned dark once again. But instead of a bag falling over her head this time...

"Itai!!!" Fumiko yelled, clutching the top of her head with both hands now while crying as a large staff had fallen out of the air now as well before she quickly grabbed the satchel and moved out of the way just in case anything else decided that it wanted to fall on top of her. Though after waiting for several minutes, nothing appeared and Fumiko guessed that she was finally able to examine everything that Rea had given her before she returned to the spell book with her eyes sparkling with excitement and opened it so that she could read the first page.

"Ku ku ku. With this, my ascension in this world is assured!" Fumiko laughed before she traced the words 'Introductory to Magic' with her free hand's index finger and the pages of the book began to flip by themselves as they seemed to be turning at an incredibly fast pace. And as they flipped, the book hovered in the air, allowing Fumiko to hold both of her hands over the flipping pages as she smiled madly. "Let the world of Hail celebrate, for the day of my arrival has come at last!"

"Are you sure that you did the right thing?" A man asked from somewhere, and Rea smiled as she recognized the voice of one of the other gods that managed Hail. "Giving her false memories is bad enough, but you even lied to her about her death."

"You saw it too, didn't you?" Rea asked. "That girl has been through enough pain for one lifetime, I should think."

"There have been worse cases, but I suppose you're right." The man sighed. "Though, maybe we're just getting too soft in our old age."

"Perhaps, but I can allow being 'soft' as you put it, for children at least." Rea chuckled to herself before becoming serious again. "I only wish that she could have found the hope that she was looking for in her last life instead of having to change worlds to find it."

"She might not find it in Hail either, you know." The man's voice warned.

"Perhaps not, but all we can do now is wait and see." Rea replied as she smiled again.
