I carefully applied my lipstick and took one last look in the mirror. I wore a short black dress and black open toed heels. I hadn't gotten this dolled up in a while.

Of course, my thoughts suddenly went to Austin as I remembered the last time I wore this dress.

"You look insanely beautiful in your dress. Have I mentioned that?"

"Only like 5 times but who's counting?"

I squeezed my eyes shut and let out a deep breath. I snapped out of my thoughts as I felt my phone buzz in my hand.

Jake: Hey Amy, I'm almost at your place

I quickly texted him back that I was ready to go as I sighed and took the elevator down to my lobby.

I couldn't help but feel somewhat off.

But I didn't know if it was because of seeing Jake or because I was a nervous wreck about going out on an actual date since my break up with Austin.

I spotted his cherry red Cadillac parked in front of my building.

I walked up to his car and got into the passenger's seat.

"Wow. Holy shit you look- wow. You looking amazing." Jake nervously said as I put on my seat belt.

I couldn't help but smile at his shyness. "Thanks Jake."

We had a comfortable ride to the restaurant as we spoke about our families, hobbies and our taste in music.

"Wait, so you you're not much of a Drake fan?" Jake asked as he watched the road.

"I mean, I like some of his songs but I'm not his biggest fan or anything." I chuckled. "I'm more of a Vampire Weekend kinda girl."

"Ah very nice. So you're not really into mainstream?"

"I am. I pretty much listen to everything. I like some hip hop and pop that's on the radio."

"Oh me too! Its hard to find good music these days though. Here I'll put something on. Do you have any brothers or sisters?"

I shook my head "No, I'm an only child. How about you?"

Jake reached over to put on the radio.

"I have 4 brothers and 1 sister, so I come from a huge family-"

Jake's voice suddenly drowned into a blur.

My heart sank as I heard his voice fill the speakers of the car. It was a song I didn't recognize.

All this stuntin' couldn't satisfy my soul
Got a hundred big places, but I'm still alone

Ayy, I would throw it all away
I just keep on wishin' that the money made you stay
You ain't never cared about that bullshit anyway
I just keep on wishin' that the money made you stay, ayy
You know I would throw it all away
I just keep on wishin' that the money made you stay
Price went up, my price went up, we went our separate ways
I just keep on wishin' that the money made you stay, ayy, ayy

Buy me love, tried to buy me love
Now I'm alone, Ice Box, Omarion
Plenty sluts grabbin' on my nuts
Might have fucked, it was only lust
I was livin' life, how could I have known?
Couldn't listen to advice 'cause I'm never wrong
In the spotlight, but I'm on my own
Now that you're gone

"You know what I mean Amy?"

I looked over in Jake's direction.
"Yeah I get what you mean." I forced a smile before I turned to look out the window, fighting the tears that were forming in my eyes.
