Xavier got to the grill and met Bonnie there.
"For the record, I'm mad at you. But I'm willing to here you out because you said it's really urgent."
"Thanks." She said. "How is he?"
"He's... well, you know Ark. Hates to show us when he's hurting."
"You have to convince Arkyn to get out of town." She said.
"Why would I do that?"
"Because you care about him. Look, this summer in New Orleans, I asked Ark to take me to a psychic reading, and he took me to a legitimate seer. She said that I'd be Ark's downfall."
"And you believed her?"
"Ark convinced me she was lying. She said to watch out for the original witch, but she's been dead for centuries. Ark told me that no way could anything she said be true because there's no way the original witch could get to us, and I wanted to believe him. I chose to believe him. But yesterday the original witch basically put a hit out on Elena. And on senior prank night, she told Matt's sister that Elena's life was the reason why Klaus's hybrids were failing. The psychic was right to tell us to watch out for the original witch, because even dead she managed to almost kill Elena."
"That's why you broke up with him. If she's right about the original witch, she's right about you being his downfall. You're trying to protect him."
"Yeah."
"That's stupid." He said. Bonnie raised her brow. "Seers aren't always reliable and interpretations are everything. And even if it is reliable and interpreted correctly, there are thousands of paths you can take. The future isn't set in stone."
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying, you breaking up with him is futile. If you really believe it's going to end with Arkyn dying, then think of it this way. You breaking up with him makes him sad, and distracted so he won't be able to defend himself. And if you understand that there are different ways this can play out, then take a hold of your own destiny and be happy with him. And if the opportunity to kill him comes a knocking, just say no." Xavier said.
"I don't want to hurt him."
"Ark doesn't fall in love often. Or at all. You breaking up with him is going to kill him inside. And I know this is hurting you too, so double fail."
"Please, Xave."
"It's a little too late. He cares too much about you to let you face Klaus, because Klaus will come back. One day- maybe a week, maybe a decade. But he'll be back and there's no way Ark's going to leave you unprotected."
"So you're not going to help me?"
"Even if I managed to convince him to get out of this town, do you know how much pain he'd be in? He's known you for less than a year but he's fallen for you. Hard. I've never seen him like this."
"I just want him safe."
"Trust me, if Klaus got a hold of him while he's this upset, he wouldn't be safe. So do us all a favour. Talk to Ark and get back with him."
"I don't want to kill him. If he's anywhere near me, he could die. I won't risk it, Xavier."
"It's not up to you."
"Yes it is. It's my hands that'll have his blood on it."
"He's an original vampire. How exactly are you planning to kill him?"
"I'm not planning to."
"Don't try to interpret the future, Bonnie. Those who do are usually very wrong and in their attempt to stop it from happening, they end up bringing about whatever it is they were trying to stop."
"If he gets out of town, far away from me, he'll be safe."
"Look, Ark tried to stay away from you. You persisted, and wormed your way into his heart. You can not break up with him at the first sight of trouble."
"Look, I gotta go. I'm meeting Caroline."
"Sure, good talk. And for god's sake talk to Ark."
"I can't." She said and walked out. Xavier shook his head, and headed back home. Arkyn was sprawled out on the sofa.
"She wants you to leave town." Xavier said, sitting on the other couch. Arkyn sat up, alert.
"You saw her?"
"She wants him out of town?" Rebekah sped into the room. "Okay, now I have to know what's so bad that she broke up with you."
"It was a disagreement."
"About Klaus." Xavier supplied. "Bonnie doesn't want Ark to put himself in danger for her. She thinks Ark's pushing too hard, and that he's gonna get daggered for trying to protect her."
"That's nothing new. Surely she knows about the daggers already. And I thought you said she caught you out in a lie."
"We weren't exactly quiet yesterday. She found out I have something on him. I guess Damon overheard us and told her or Elena who told her. And it was a Klaus lie, technically."
"So why didn't you say that earlier?"
"Well, I have no desire to start up yesterday's argument all over again." He lied.
"So Bonnie's trying to protect you?"
"Exactly." Xavier said.
"She does know that the damage is already done. Nik won't come after you as long as you have the upper hand."
"She thinks if I forget about Mystic Falls, I'll be safe from his wrath."
"I should talk to her."
"No!" Arkyn stopped her. "I'm a big boy, Bex. I can handle it. Why didn't you tell me you were going to meet with her, Xave?"
"Well she said it was urgent, so I had to go, but I couldn't tell you because, it's been a day. You need to give her time before you talk to her."
"No. I can't give her time to talk herself into it more."
"What are you going to say?"
"I have today to figure that out. I'll go find her later."
