Niall's POV

I stared down at her, nearly choking on my own spit. Absentmindedly I somehow found my way to my chair. Our gazes were locked, and each second seemed like an eternity.  The moment was finally broken when, Blake, asked what she was staring at. Her eyes looked away from me, and her words hurt.

"Nothing, just thought I saw someone I knew..I was mistaken."

Knowing the reason she pretended not to know me, I returned my gaze to my date. Yet I couldn't help think...Of all the places and tables in New York City...it had to be this one?

Jenny could practically feel my distraction when she asked, "Niall, are you alright?"

"I'm...I'm fine. Just thought of something funny."

Jenny adjusted in the chair, and I could feel she felt out of place, since her flat was in one of the not nicest neighborhoods of New York City.  But her face still lit up when I said something about a joke, "Oh, what's the joke? Do tell, I really like to laugh."

"What did one ocean say to the other ocean?"

"I don't know, what did they say?"

I chuckled before speaking, "Nothing, they just waved"

You know that feeling when someone is staring at you with this jaw wide open? Well, I don't, cause I could see Lilly out of the corner of my eye. It's not like I was trying to make her jealous, mainly because why would I try and make a engaged woman jealous...well, maybe I was...a little.

Jenny was cracking up, and I couldn't help but laugh too. Cool stares were cast our way, but I didn't care.

"Niall, I can't believe you just cracked the corniest joke I've ever heard in my life." Jenny leaned her elbow on the table, her jaw resting on her open palm, "It's awesome to know you're so down to earth."

I was about to respond, but the conversation next to me caught my attention.

"Blake, I just adore the bracelet you've gotten me, it's wonderful. I honestly cannot wait to get married. If only we could do it now, right now, and get it over with."

Was she trying to get...back at me? My eyes glanced over to Blake. He wasn't as handsome as I suspected him to be. Sure, he had a good head of dark hair, and a good jawline, but definitely not the best looking. My cheeks flared red when I noticed he wasn't even paying attention to her, his eyes were on his phone, which was hidden in his lap.

Lillian noticed too, and she sank back into her seat..a saddening look in her eyes. For a moment our eyes met, and I could see the tears brimming in her eyes. Why I outta..

"-Others must be just as awesome as you" I trailed back into the conversation, hearing just enough to know what she was talking about.

"The lads? Yeah, they're pretty great. We're all practically brothers. Although, I think Harry let all the girls get to his head...if you know what I mean."

Jenny laughed again, obviously getting what I meant, and when she was done, a big, beautiful smile was placed on her lips.

"I'm glad we met Niall."

"Me too," I replied swiftly, a crooked grin spreading my lips apart.

I really was too, I needed told get my mind off of Lillian Whitlock, but that was heard since she was right next to me...with her stupid fiance.

Lilly's POV

Blake hardly looked at me. As if I couldn't see the light of his dumb blackberry in the dimness of this corner. We pretty much ate our dinner in loud silence. The only noise came from Niall and his date's obnoxious laughter.

Yet, I wish I was in her place in stead. You know, Blake didn't used to be like this. He used to make me laugh until my ribs hurt, he used to pay attention. Used to make me nonstop happy. It didn't change until his father started pushing him into politics. Wanting him to be the next Mayor.

I sighed and thought back to happier times.

"Blake, do you think, in ten years from now, we'll still be together?" I asked, my head on his soft chest, the smell of his tantalizing cologne tingling my nostrils.

He waited a few moments to reply, obvious thoughts running around his head as his fingers traced the line of my shoulder. Goosebumps flared all over my skin as his finger went back and forth, slowly, lovingly.

"I know we'll still be together in ten years, because I'll never love any girl as much as I love you. We're meant to be. You're the Juliet to my romeo. The Rose to my Jack, the Angelia to my brad"

I laughed at his analogy, but laid there in silence afterward, a sweet smile on my lips as I closed my eyes, "I love you so much."

"I love you to-"

My sweet memories were interrupted as our waiter came over and sat the check down on the table. Blake said a quick thank you, put his credit card between the small check book, and handed it back.

"Oh and take a thirty dollar tip for yourself, you're a wonderful waiter," I added with a smile. Blake just smiled too.

When our waiter was gone, his smile faded, and he looked at me with hard eyes, "A thirty dollar tip? I may be made of money, but I don't like spending it like you do. I work for my money, my parents don't just hand it to me whenever I was to go shoe shopping."

"Blake, I-"

"Just save it Lillian, go out to the car. I'll be out in a minute." I watched as he sat his napkin, rather forcefully down on the table.

"Blake I'l sorry, I didn't kno-" I attempted to apologize, but he cut me off.

"Just go" There was anger in his voice, and I did as I was told. The anger scared me.

Standing from the table, I held in the tears that threatened to spill over, taking in a deep breath. I couldn't help but notice Niall's face as I passed. It was a deep shade of red, almost as red as a tomato...was he...mad?

My throat felt dry as I made my way across the restaurant, and I couldn't help myself from only hearing Blake's words, but seeing Niall's face full of rage.

As I exited, crossing the space of sidewalk, and climbed into the car that awaited me, my phone rang. I received a new text message. I knew who it was from.

From: Niall

I wanted to hit him so bad for talking to you like that. You deserve better.

And that's when the tears spilled over, because I knew he was right..
