Chapter 3 - Falling Into The Arms Of...

Hi there! I know it's been a couple days since the last post but I've been a bit preoccupied with school and assignments as of late, and it's totally draining me of all my energy and motivation to write. but, as I promised the third chapter is finally here! So I once again apologize for not posting sooner, but you know how life goes.

I've also decided to not put this story on hiatus, so your welcome(?) ^ω^

Also the photo used above is not only the only one I could find, but it's also how I kind of depict Hui Jingyi (left side) and Fang Jiahao (right side) to look like, minus the food and hat though, (these characters will be introduced in this chapter) credit goes to the original artist!

The emperor stared fixedly at Yu Zhen, making him coil into himself slightly under the intense gaze, feeling rather uncomfortable under the constant and seemingly curious eyes of the emperor, caused him to sweat profusely.

"How interesting," the emperor this time verbalized his thoughts, causing the spectators to stare wide eyed with their mouths agape. The only words that were said to them were either, 'you pass' or 'you fail' nothing more and nothing less. But right in front of their very own eyes, they bore witness to the emperor speaking something other than his stern and ordinary answer. The onlookers glanced to Yu Zhen almost simultaneous, some looked at him with hatred and jealousy while other looked at him with admiration and curiosity.

Being stared at by so many people made Yu Zhen shiver slightly, closing his eyes he took in a deep and laborious breath, steadily exhaled and slowly calmed himself down. What was there to be afraid of? He thought, there's absolutely nothing to fear about being stared at by such a large group of people, especially when they look at me like they want to skin me alive, then boil me, and then feed me to their large meat eating dogs, predominantly when one of those people is the emperor, and is considered to be the strongest living creature in the world! And that if I fail, I'll either die, or live, and be abandoned again...yeah, nothing fear. Yu Zhen thought somberly and pensively.

Who am I kidding...? Whether I pass or not, I'm going to be tormented either way...

Suddenly out of complete nowhere, an extremely strong gravitational pull, much like the one his sister had been previously been attacked by, was now attacking him instead! Yu Zhen's knees began to buckle as he couldn't help but succumb to the power, he could feel is innards drop down as the pressure started to become all too much for him to handle. His sister, who was at the side of the room with the other 'competitors', was watching him with obvious signs of pleasure in her eyes and couldn't help but smirk at her brother who was writhing in pain, serves you right you wretched scoundrel!

As he was nearly pushed to the ground completely, a single thought of his younger brother waving and smiling at him with that big dumb grin caught his attention immediately.

"You can do it big bro, I believe in you!" Yu Jia's premature voice cheered as his figure began to dissipate.

Yu Zhen held out a shaking hand to his younger brother and called to him longingly, "don't leave me, Yu Jia..." but soon his glossy white surroundings shifted and he returned back to the grave situation at hand. With his new found determination, he gritted his pearly white teeth and began to resist the suffocating pressure that was covering his entire body, with the thought of his brother fresh in his mind, he couldn't help but let a few tears fall down his cheeks.

Yu Zhen proceeded to place his right hand on the ground to stabilize himself, then began to stand shakily. This made the witnesses around the room blink, clearly surprised by the revelation, for just a moment ago he was being easily subdued by the strength of the gravitational pull, but now he was standing strong against it? Truly amazing! He then with last push yelled out loud and stood tall, Yu Zhen panted heavily as he stared at the emperor with half lidded eyes, he then grinned at him almost saying, 'hah! I beat your stupid test!' this made the emperor waver slightly.
