It wasn't hard finding Sidon and Muzu, since the elderly Zora's venting could be recognised from a mile away. The two of them stood under Mipha's statue, arguing back and forth without much chance of reason or a compromise. Link lead the way down to the square, only to freeze when Muzu glanced over Sidon to give us a glare.
"You came all this way, but it was in vain. I have no desire to speak with either of you." He snarled.
"Hello to you too," I responded sarcastically while stepping out from behind Link. Sidon sighed from beside me and crossed his arms.
"Listen, Muzu. There's something I should tell you..." He began "This man here, Link... he is the one my dear sister had feelings for. I had grown up hearing stories of Mipha's undying love for him."
Wait... what?
My eyes travelled to Link, who was staring up at Sidon with incredulous wide eyes. Of course he had no recollection of this, but even so...
He seemed pretty popular with girls back in his day, *snort*.
"Th-That cannot be! You cannot fool me with such a fanciful lie! How could Lady Mipha possibly have feelings for a Hylian like him?! He doesn't remember anything, not even when he gazes upon the Princess's statue. Even the company he keeps..." He sent me a hateful glance "There is no way Lady Mipha would choose a Hylian to marry, with his failures and his criminal of a companion. Not even she can recall the mercy Lady Mipha had given her."
My eyes widened with my arms dropping to my side. It's not like he actually meant me, but I still felt a tang of guilt... why? Even earlier, Link had told me he saw a girl in my champion garment, whom he had called a crook...
What did my past incarnation do to deserve the reputation of a criminal?
"They aren't my crimes, what ever they were..." I muttered behind my clenched jaw. They aren't...
As Muzu and Sidon began to argue again, I saw Link's gaze cast onto the statue that stared down at us. He stared up at it as if he was thinking hard, his lip taken between his teeth as his cerulean eyes met her carved crystal ones. The rain made her look like she was crying...
All of a sudden Link gasped, and his eyes glazed over in an all too familiar way. He stepped back, and unfortunately I had to catch him before he slipped on the wet floor.
Sidon seemed startled, and reached out as if to be of assistance. But I only shook my head "He's fine, he does this sometimes."
At convenient times too... oh yeah, that's believable...
After a moment Link's eyes snapped open and he inhaled a sharp breath, his body slumping over as he held his forehead. He was also shaking in my arms. It's like he had woken from a nightmare.
"Mipha..." he muttered, eyes filled with sadness and regret. Slowly he stood up straight, and I was confident enough to let go of his quivering frame.
"You remembered her..."
"Yeah... I... I did." His voice was barely above a whisper.
"What?!" Muzu started up again, his wrinkled lips parted in shock "D-Do not take me for a fool! You cannot have remembered her when it is most convenie—!"
"Hey!" I cut him off "Can it, aquatic raisin, the poor kid doesn't need your accusations right now."
Muzu and I glared at each other. Sure, I wasn't completely confident in Link's skill, but I was at least willing to let him try. This guy's home was in danger, and yet he continues to be a racist jerk towards both of us.
