(This chapter takes place at the same time as the last. It will also be told in Link's point of view. Hopefully it won't confuse you. And... I have an apology to make. This is mostly a filler chapter. There were a few things I wanted to cover, and they could only really be done in Link's pov. So that's my excuse ^^; hope you can enjoy it regardless)—-
Link POV
—-I had been regaining memories at an agonisingly slow pace. So many things were missing from my mind, and the things I did remember didn't add up in any way. One moment Princess Zelda was yelling at me to stop following her, another she's asking what my motives to becoming a knight were... It was so damn frustrating to not know about myself or what happened before the Calamity! Why couldn't I just remember?! They're my memories, aren't they?! And, what made things worse was that thoughts of Y/N bedridden and alone kept overshadowing the thoughts of getting my memories back. It was guilt I couldn't handle right now... why was I even concerning myself with it? It's out of my hands now...
I growled "Why do I miss her this much?!"
Epona whinnied in surprise at my sudden outburst, and a couple dozen birds flew from a tree nearby. I grimaced and reached down, running a hand over my steed's rust red coat "Sorry, girl... I just have a lot on my mind."
She grunted, which probably didn't mean anything but I took it as a warning. And I was right to... I couldn't just randomly yell when I'm angry at myself, people would think of me as a weirdo. Thank the goddesses no one was around right now...
I sighed and leaned back in my saddle, staring up at the cloudy sky. It didn't look like it was going to rain anytime soon, but that didn't stop me from feeling gloomy. My journey to finding my memories had brought me to Hyrule Ridge, where I was told I would find my next picture location by a travelling painter named Pikango. It was a photo of a cabin by a lake, and he had said he'd seen the house ruins of a similar shape by Lake Illumeni, so that was where I'd be heading. I wondered who this house even belonged to, or why it was interesting enough for the princess to photograph it. Maybe it belonged to one of the champions?
The route to the lake would take me off the main road, from what I could tell from my map and the mark Pikango had placed for me to show where it was. I could probably only take Epona so far before having to make the rest of the way on foot. I was okay with that; no one said regaining memories would be easy... still, I pressed on. Though, as I began to turn off the path, I noticed a girl. She seemed rather lost, by the way she held her chin and stared at the sign in front of her with squinted eyes. Well... I had a map, so maybe I could help her get on her way. The cabin could wait a tad longer, couldn't it?
I dismounted Epona and jogged over, tapping the woman on the shoulder "You okay?"
She turned around and sighed, rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment "Yeah, just a bit lost... Sorry to be a bother, but do you have any idea where Gerudo Desert is?"
Gerudo desert? Never heard of that before... it must've been somewhere I had yet to go, which also meant I wouldn't be able to pinpoint it on my map since I wouldn't have activated a tower near there. I shook my head apologetically "Sorry, I don't know where that is..."
"Oh, darn..." the woman sighed, but I saw a grin creeping onto her face "Well no matter... I'll find the way there myself, and I'll even bring a souvenir!"
I raised an eyebrow in confusion "Oh yeah? What's that?"
"Your head of course."
My eyes widened as her smile changed to an evil smirk, as she enveloped herself in red smoke which seemed pretty familiar to me... and when it cleared I could see why. The woman stood in front of me once again, this time in a red bodysuit and a terrifying mask, with a sickle in her hand. She laughed and jumped backwards, ready to fight me.
