Breath of Another World (BOTW Link x Reader)

Unwanted emotions

Also I'll admit this is more of a filler chapter than anything, which means it is a little shorter. But I hope it's enjoyable regardless.

Link had found himself in an unfamiliar place... it was dark, cold and unwelcoming. He could hardly make out a thing, apart from strange glowing purple sludge that surrounded him.

"Malice?" He whispered to himself, but it echoed around him. He frowned and looked around, but there was nothing... nothing but destruction and calamity... and himself.

His eyes widened when he realised he was alone. Where was the Princess? Where were the Champions? Why weren't they fighting Ganon with him?

Wait, that's right... they... they were—

"It's your fault... It's all your fault..."

His eyes widened when hearing multiple voices, full of dread and venom drawing near, causing him to turn his head frantically to find who it was that said that to him.

"It's your fault..."

"What's my fault?!" Link yelled desperately "Who are you?!"

The voices did not answer, which made the unease in the pit of the boy's stomach rise. He felt as if people were around him, but he could not see anyone. But then, at the corner of his eyes he saw them... four deformed beings of Sheikah tech and Malice, staring at him with red murderous eyes. The Blights. Link gasped as his hand reached up for the hilt of his sword, but it wasn't strapped to his back. He was unarmed. In panic he raised his fists, hoping to look at least a little bit intimidating to them...

"It's your fault... you did this to us..." They chanted, drawing closer to him. The ones he was already familiar with, Waterblight and Windblight suddenly stopped, while the other two did something even more shocking... they began to melt into the floor, and began to form new beings with their malice. Link began to back away, his gaze darting towards the two halted blights, only to see they had disappeared. He looked back at the new figures that stood before him, only to have his eyes fly wide.

"Y-You!!!"

The two champions; the two he was yet to free stood before him, but not how Mipha and Revali did. They were beaten and bloody, hunched over and staring up at him with dead eyes... and their bodies were coated with deadly malice which seemed to be eating through their flesh.

"This is your fault... it's all your fault... you failed us..."

A small horrified whimper escaped Link's lips as they trudged over to him, hands reached out to grab him. As they approached the malice grew upwards, moulding itself together to form something he had seen before... something horrifying with yellow eyes that was ready to swallow Link whole. It was Calamity Ganon, right behind his dead comrades as they backed him into a corner.

"I-I'm Sorry!!!" He cried "I'm so sorry! I'll free you, I promise!"

"You can't free the dead, Link..." they muttered "You left us to die..."

"Th-That's not—!"

Before he could yell at them he felt something painful coiling around his ankles, burning through his skin like molten steel ropes as they kept him in place. He looked down to see malice growing underneath him, pulling him in to swallow him whole. He screamed in agony before looking up at the Champions, but they didn't seem affected as they walked through the substance and towards him, grabbing his shoulders and pushing him further into certain doom.
