I had been crouched with my back against the rock ever since Link had made his little... gesture, claiming it was to keep myself out of sight when he questioned it. In reality though, I only did it to hide the absolute flabbergasted expression on my face... which was only growing redder the more I thought about it! I let out an irritated huff. Wasn't Link done yet?!

POW!!

I felt my heart stop as everything grew silent behind the boulder, my limbs twitching anxiously as I suffocated in the silence. What the hell just happened... was everything okay?!

"L-Link...?"

A short, amazed laugh came after "Oh my gosh, I actually did it..."

Oh thank f*ck...

"Dude!!!" I shot up out of hiding and turned to look at him, extending an arm and finger "You don't just smooch someone on the forehead, run into battle, and then stay silent after a huge explo— holy f*ck you really did a number on him..." I muttered once I saw the guardian's remains on the ground, my lips parting slightly in amazement. The guy was strong as hell, I'll admit that much.

"Yeah, I'm surprised too." Link chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. Sweat was rolling down his face, which meant he probably had to use a lot of endurance to push back the mechanical enemy's beam "And... sorry, if the whole forehead... t-thing made you uncomfortable."

"Why'd you do it, though?"

His cheeks seemed to glow very slightly "I-It... would it be cliche for me to say it was the feel of the moment?"

I raised an eyebrow "A bit."

"Yeah thought so..." he sighed and placed his shield back on his back "I... guess it seemed like a good idea at the time? Like, maybe it could've given you a bit of closure?"

I mean, he's not wrong. I wasn't worrying about the battle at all until I heard the explosion. But still...

"I guess you really were uncomfortable, huh?"

My eyes widened as I jerked my head up "Nonono, that's not it at all! It was just... surprising that you could be that bold."

Link's mouth dropped slightly "I can be bold!"

"Sure sure." The opportunity to tease him made me smirk and fold my arms over my chest "You're vanilla as a crème brûlée topped with a dollop of ice cream and a shiny red cherry on top, you cannot deny it."

He opened his mouth for a comeback, but instead he just pouted "I know that was supposed to be an insult, but now I'm just hungry..."

I snorted with a roll of my eyes, allowing my arms to drop to my sides as I shook my head at him "You're always hungry, Limp noodle. It amazes me how you can maintain your physique with how much you snack on sh*t."
