L had hardly ever looked peaceful. Only at daybreak when you were the first to awaken did you ever see him so exposed. You had wished you could remain here alone with him for eternity. Life has a cruel way of making what we want impossible.

You lifted yourself up quietly as to not awaken him. You heard the front door of his apartment open and close. Hastily you dress yourself and exit L's room. Only to be greeted by and very familiar and not welcomed face.

"___." Light greeted you. He had a large box of donuts rested in his arm. He held it out like a present. You saw it as a Trojan horse. "Have you gotten what I asked for yet?"

"Yes." You lie. Light looks surprised.

"Huh..." he trails off as he sets down the donuts. "I guess you're not as incompetent as I once thought you to be."

"I guess not." You agree. Light takes a seat and motions for you to sit on the couch across from him. You do so with no hesitation.

"So, what is it?" He wonders.

"Should we speak of this here?" You worry.

"What does it matter? The deed is as good as done once you give me what I asked for." He sounded irritated at your lack of answers.

"I just think-"

"I honestly couldn't care less about what you think. Tell me why you won't say what it is?" Light scoffs.

"I just think that if we do it here it would only rise more suspicions." You finish "I believe this would only hurt us to do it now. To do it here. While we're alone with the man investigating you." Light scans you for a moment.

"You've always been good with your words." He notes "I wonder if it's because they're true, or if it's because they're well thought out in advance."

"A little of both." You state. Light huffs in an almost amused way.

"Sometimes I wonder if you're stupid enough to betray me." He spits.

"You seem to think a lot about betrayal for someone who has yet to be betrayed." You counter.

"There's a reason I've never been betrayed." He reminds you.

"There's a reason I haven't betrayed you."

"Tell me the name."

You hesitate before speaking.

"___" you say, giving him what he wants. "His name is ___" Light analyzed you for a moment before looking pleased. He then stands abruptly and begins to head for the door. "Light." You say stopping him in his tracks.

"Yes?" He asks.

"I have an idea on how we can do this." You inform him. He turns to face you.

"Better than what I've already been doing?" His face looked annoyed at the implication.

"He's not one of your usual targets." You say. Light stays silent knowing this to be true. "We should be more careful with this one."

"What would you have me do?" He asks.

"5 o'clock this evening wrote that name down. I will be with him in a public place. At that restaurant we first had lunch in. In front of witnesses. So neither one of us can be blamed." You say earning a smile from Light.

"I will be there then too." Light laughs "in the shadows. The last time I will be in the shadows."

"The last time." You repeat to him. The words were like a melody to his ears. "You will finally be the hero you've always meant to be." Light nods. Very pleased with this.
