Harry's pov

We were currently sitting on the dinner table dining quietly giving each other occasional stares but no one uttered the word until I decided to break the silence

The dinner is really good...I said making her look up from her plate

Thank you..she smiled at me

Nandini...I know I have said it earlier but I'm saying it again ...I'm sorry for last night ..I said genuinely

It's okay...she said with a small smile .

And we continued to eat again in silence , but this time Nandini decided to break the silence .

Harry ? Do u mind if I ask you something ?...she asked nervously

I nodded , partly aware of what she was going to ask

Why did u change all of a sudden ...I mean I know u married me to take revenge ..so why all of this change and that to in one night ..she asked

I kept my spoon on my plate before looking up at her for sometime , she gulped in fear

I'm sorry ...I shouldn't have asked that...she said in a panic tone

I got up from the table and started walking towards the room ..

Harry I'm really sorry if I offended u...she called out but I continued to walk towards my room and soon after some time I came back but this time I had the most precious entity in my hand ...my army uniform.

As soon as she saw me coming she stood up from the chair ..

Harry I'm sorry ...she said again..have I messed up ..she said her eyes glossy

I showed her the uniform in my hand ..

She looked at me confused

Before I answer you your question can I ask you something ? I asked her and she nodded relunctantly

Why did you marry me ? I asked making her frow a bit

I mean I am 10 years older than you , an example of what cruelity , completely opposite of what u are , and on top of that I'm a britisher , than why did u married me ?

She didn't answer , she just looked down on the floor

Let me tell u , because ur country and ur people are everything to u ..u are ready to give ur everything for those people , even if it's your life isn't it ...you gave up your dreams and aspirations for ur people ...if I hadn't put the condition of abducting girls will u still have married me ? I asked her with narrowed eyes.

Harry pls- she started but I stopped her

Answer nandini...I said calmly

She slowly nodded her head in a no .

Similarly for me my everything is this...I said gesturing towards my uniform...I put my day and night into it to earn this ...and I will do anything for this ...right and wrong doesn't matter in front of it .

She just listened to me quielty as I continued

My mom dad passed away in a car accident when I was 7 and after that I was brought up in an orphanage , never knew what a happy family meant ...I never got the respect or the love that I wanted until I decided to earn it myself ...I studied hard and passed the entrance to British army , and from there there was no turning back , this uniform has given me everything that I once craved respect , love , a reason for living , money , status and God whatever I'm today it's only because of this...and I will do anything for it ..and by anything I mean anything I said stressing the last part

That day when you slapped me , I felt that slap was not on me but rather the British army and I couldn't take it , so I decided to teach u a lesson for that and that's why I married u ..because anyone mess with the British army and I will not leave them alone .

And all these times of our marriage , harry styles wanted to talk to u but the British officer Harry styles wanted to make you suffer more and more

But yesterday when I beat u , I felt really bad , I honestly think I shouldn't have done that ...after our marriage not once have u shown your hatret and instead always try to stand for me when in reality I know how much u hate britishers . You compromised and moved on while I was still sticking into it and took it all over u in these past months and yesterday was the limit of all of it...it's then when I truly realised if you have compromised I should too. A brave women like you do not deserve this ...after all u were fighting for ur people just like I'm for mine..ur a soldier on the inside and a soldier should always be treated with respect outside the war field , even if it's your enemy....I said looking at her

And when she looked up at me tears where flowing uncontrollably from her eyes..

Listen Nandini , I think I will never be able to love u because ur an Indian and I think you too will never truly love me..., But guess both are alike in the way that we both love our country and can do anything for it ..

So...let's make this easy....friends? I asked extending my hands towards her

She took some time staring at me and then my hands before finally shaking her hands with me.

Friends...she said with a slight smile , tears still falling like pearls from her ocean like orbs ...
