October 1952~ 21 Weeks

"The place is looking good, Brainless" Johanna says as she, Annie and I sit at the table of the dining room

"Thank you. Peetas' Aunt just randomly showed up with all of this stuff. She's decided to stick around so she can meet the baby when I give birth" I reply

"I noticed. I saw her in town. She's definitely not from here or at least hasn't been for a while. Do you understand why she is always so dressed up?" Johanna asks and I shrug

"I guess because it makes her feel powerful or something. She's nice enough, her voice can be annoying at times but I'm also saying that because I'm four months pregnant and everything bothers me" I sigh, rubbing my already popping belly

"Do you know if you're delivering at home or in the hospital?" Annie asks and I snort

"I don't trust anyone in our town working in the hospital. My Mom agreed to deliver the baby here. She also gets my pregnancy vitamins seeing as I'll just get given the not so good ones" I reply. Finding that out, out-raged Peeta and I had to stop him from storming the clinic. My mom thankfully had a friend called Seeder who worked in the clinic who wanted to help and gave me the best vitamins she had which I made sure I paid for them, no matter how much she tried telling me to pay a much lower price

"People in this town... I hate them all" Johanna scowls

"Not everyone. That's just a small minority. There are people who aren't that bad and it's quite a lot of people too" Annie replies

"Don't be so modest towards them, Annie. We all know that they hate Katniss because of where her dad is from" Johanna says, I agree with Annie that it's a small group who aren't pleasant so I'm not sure why Johanna is so unforgiving

"At the end of the day, they have a right to their opinions. My biggest problem my whole life has been Cato Harrison and Glimmer Hemingway giving me grief at school. It was only them and the people in their cliques. Everyone else weren't as mean towards me. Then there's Peetas' Mom. Other than that I don't get much trouble" I tell the both of them, sipping on my red raspberry leaf tea.

Annie leaves first because she has to get back to check in with her Dad who I learnt is no longer around mentally. He just stares off into space after the horrific lose of Annie's Mom. Johanna sticks around so I take this as my chance to ask the question I've been too nervous to ask.

"Johanna... why... um... why do you hate this town so much?" I ask

"It's just filled with people who think life can be perfectly fulfilled being discriminatory to others" she grumbles pulling out her flask to pour the clear liquor into her tea cup

"That doesn't make sense. Not entirely. I've never really heard you say something like that. Can't you tell me the real reason?" I ask, her lips are in a thin line before she downs the liquor in her tea cup

"I have a six year old Son who doesn't know his father because he was a married deadbeat asshole who didn't tell me that information until I found out I was pregnant" she answers, I'm completely taken aback by what she just said

"Where is he now?" I ask

"Somewhere in Arizona. I moved to Panem because it's a small town, fit for a nineteen year old pregnant girl? I was wrong" she scoffs taking two big gulps from her flask

"What do you mean? What happened?" I ask

"Nothing, at first. This guy hired me to be his family maid, offered me a spare room to stay in. I was paid an insane amount for just cleaning. I then found out why I was being paid a large sum. The bastard wanted me to be his night whore. He snuck into my bed, told me to stay still or he'll hurt me so the baby dies" Johanna's hands shake as she drinks more from her flask
