Zeus' Minions Murder Us

POSEIDON'S POV

Sure, the crew members served us as Chiron said. They definitely weren't happy to do so, though. Nor they were as enthusiastic as a normal crew member on a normal flight would be.

My life before this was probably normal, too. Since when did I sign up for this?

The only thing I could tolerate about this aircraft, though, was how luxurious it felt like. Our seats were undoubtedly first class with leather made of the finest material, the A.C. was a perfect temperature, and for once the food actually tasted nicer than I expected, with pieces of ambrosia mixed in.

Athena ordered a coffee mixed with nectar. I couldn't imagine how gross it could get, but she seemed to enjoy it and for some reason, I felt happy seeing her drink it as if it triggered a memory...I dug further in my brain but it refused to give me more flashbacks. I swear I met a woman who looked like a middle-aged version of her standing in a tower at night, sipping this same kind of coffee while smirking at me...

I tried to shake the absurd thought away, but it insisted to stay. The harder I tried, the harder it got. I groaned and shifted in my seat. As great the food and seats were, the minus side was definitely the lack of entertainment. The crew members were dull people who walked around with bored expressions and right there and then, I didn't feel awkward to think that Athena was the most entertaining thing to look at.

She put down her coffee and kept knitting the mini tapestry that she had somehow gotten out of nowhere. I swear she had a special power to hide stuff in another dimension and get ahold of them whenever she wished.

I found myself getting drowsier every second, and my thoughts floated towards the Golden Fleece. I have to check it before I fall asleep...I don't feel very faithful in these crew members of Zeus.

I raised my hand and watched as a female crew member scurried towards me. Then I looked around and realised something - all of our crew members were female. They looked like normal women, but something was...not necessarily wrong, just different about them.

"Good day, sir," the lady forced on something that seemed like a fake cheesy smile. "In honour of the lord of the universe, how may I help you?"

"Er..." I suddenly didn't know what to say. As much of a different aura they gave me, they were still stunning...and I had to say that this particular lady looked amazing up close.

I held my breath and scolded myself. What was I thinking? I was fourteen. "Uhm, I would like to check on the Golden Fleece. Chiron said it would be on the aircraft for our quest? I needed to make sure. Thanks."

The lady's face suddenly scrunched into an unpleasant frown, as if I just brought up sewer rats instead of the Fleece. "The Fleece, you say? I'm sorry, but I'm afraid we cannot give it to you under the thunder lord's orders."

Zeus' orders? That sounded a little fishy. I had a feeling that she was lying, so I tried again. "Well, I...would still like to take a look at it. I promise I'm not going to do anything with it - it doesn't have to leave your hands. I would just like to see that it's here."

The crew member's expression suddenly darkened a whole lot more than it was before. "No, I must not betray the lord's own orders."

Scowling, I looked over to Athena, who was sitting next to me. She looked up from her tapestry and frowned at me as if she was trying to figure out what I was doing. I really needed her wit now if she was the goddess of wisdom.

Finally, she spoke up. "Miss, did you just refuse to let us check the Golden Fleece?"

I wasn't the slightest bit surprised when she stuttered to reply - even though the question wasn't directed at me, I got the chills. "I-it was the lord's orders, ma'am. It-"

"You're lying," Athena growled, putting a blow into every word. "Your eyes darted back and forth. Your lips quivered. You're lying."

I looked back and forth at the two girls. Athena looked like she was facing a spider and the lady started resembling an evil cat.

"Well, ma'am," she purred just to fit my description, "the lord never forbade us from lying, and we, the Aurai, are the true owners of the fleece."

A group of the other flight attendances reached her side. That was when I noticed - it was hard to see and you had to squint as much as your eyes allow you, but they were slightly transparent. Their once elegant figures twisted into the form of evil witches. Their eyes looked bloodshot and ready for battle.

I was ready to call a truce because if we fought, the entire crew would drop into the deep, deep ocean with both Athena and me. I had a terrible feeling that even if I really was Poseidon the sea god, I wouldn't have much luck to save myself, let alone save Athena as well.

But you guys know Athena, don't you?

She revealed her mini spear that was tucked in the pendant of her necklace. With a slight twist of her fingers, it grew full size. Even without a shield, she looked beautiful. I tried not to stare in case she turned around and frowned at me like, what are you looking at? At that point, I felt ashamed for even taking a liking for the plane's crew.

Gritting my teeth, I pulled my pen out of my pocket and smiled as the sound of the shink of my trident appearing became audible.

Athena and I shared a wary look as we got ready for their cool weapons, but all they did was raise their hands.

Right, that sounded pathetic. Well, let me remind you that they were a bunch of evil-cat-looking ladies who could control the wind. We became off guard when we saw their lack of weapons, but to underestimate this 'loyal crew' of ours was like calling Kronos a harmless baby. (How did I even know the word 'Kronos'? What the Hades is a Kronos? Oh, and what the Hades is a Hades?)

Before we knew it, Athena and I were blown hard backwards, crumbling against the leather seats which, no, did not feel comfortable because of the metal behind. Our weapons flew out of our hands and landed in front of them.

  σκατά.

(A/N: Yay! It's great to be finally back. I'm, uh, two days late...sorry...anyway, if you want to know what that last Greek word means, it translates to quite an unpleasant rude word. If it was inaccurate, I'm sorry because I used google translate. I feel like I don't have to tell you what the rude word is for obvious reasons, but if you would like to you can go on and use google translate again.)
