That night they all got back home from the park, work, and school. John was cooking food.
"John, I don't have any other clothes" said Mary.
"Nothing?" he asked
"No" she said "What now?"
"I will go to the house and get some for you" said John.
"But what if dads there and catches you" Mary said worried.
"Don't worry Mary, it will be fine" said John.
Mary looked extremely worried.
"What if he finds out I am here?" asked Mary.
"He won't" said John.
"But what if he does" said Mary now starting to cry.
"Mary, its going to be ok" said John.
"No its not!" she yelled.
Justin, Charlie and Danny became quiet and looked up.
John got quiet to.
"Im eleven not five anymore, I know that I can't stay here forever and I know he is going to look for me, but I just don't want to go back!" she yelled. Mary jumped down from the stool and ran to her room.
"Mary!" yelled John.
She slammed her door and clicked the lock.
"Dam it!" said John slamming the counter, "I ****** screwed up."
"John, your trying your best" said Justin.
"Ya, well I didn't try before, and maybe if I did this would have never happened' said John, "My father hurt her and I let it happen."
"You didn't let it happen... you just weren't...." Charlie didn't finish his sentence
"There" finished John, "Ya I know and I should have been" he threw down the towel and walked out the door.
John sat on the stairs in the hallway. He didn't know what to do. His sister was hurting and to him, it was because of him. He knew his father was going to find out where she was and he was going to try and kill John. John was confused and didn't know what to do. All he knew was that he had to keep Mary safe, but he had no idea how to do that.
He went back inside.
"She is still in her room" said Danny.
"Justin, will you come with me I got to get stuff for Mary, I got to do this before my dad gets home" said John.
'Ya sure" said Justin.
"I doubt Mary will come out, but if she does just tell her I went to get her stuff" said John.
Justin and John left.
They soon pulled up at the house. Adam wasn't home thank God.
"Lets make this quick" said John.
John took the spare key from under the flower pot and opened the door. It was the first time he had been home in a year. The house was dirty and a complete mess.
"Wow" said John.
Justin was quiet.
They headed up stairs. John was grabbing stuff and putting it in a suitcase.
"Grab here pillow and blanket it will make her feel better" said John.
"What about this bear thing" said Justin holding up a old teddy bear.
"Ya that to" said John smiling.
"I gave her that when Eden left" said John
"It looks like it has been through a war" said Justin
"She carried that thing everywhere" said John
"Here take this to" said John, handing him a bag. Justin headed downstairs.
John sat down on the bed. He looked over at the dresser. There was a picture of him, Eden and Mary. He picked it up and just looked at it. After awhile he put it down and continued packing.
Back at the house Danny and Charlie where trying to figure out how to get Mary out.
"Dude you think I know how to deal with an upset kid" said Charlie.
"I don't no either" said Danny, "but we have to try."
"Why?" said Charlie, 'Let John deal with it when he gets back."
"Really? come on, John needs help" said Danny.
"Ya I guess" said Charlie
They got up and went to the room. Danny knocked on the door
"Mary?" he said the door swung open.
Mary wasn't there. They stepped in the room.
"Mary?" asked Danny and Charlie.
She was gone
"Shes gone" said Charlie.
Danny and Charlie then went to check the rest of the house. She was no where to be found.
"She left" said Danny.
Charlie then went to call John.
"John, Mary is gone" said Charlie.
'What!" said John.
"We went to her room to see if we can get her to come out and she just wasn't there" said Charlie.
"Alright" said John, "We need to start looking, just drive around and look for her if we don't find her in twenty minutes, we will call the cops."
Danny and Charlie both grabbed their keys and ran out the door. Jenny was coming up the stairs as they were running down.
"Whats going on?" asked Jenny.
"Mary is missing" said Danny.
"Oh my God, I will help" she said as she headed down the stairs with them.
"Justin" said John as he came down the stairs to the car, "We need to go Mary is missing."
"What" said Justin.
They got in the car. As they were pulling away. Adam came. John and him made eye contact. John's heart sunk. His dad now knew where Mary was.
